That'll be even more of a rights nightmare than Goldeneye. It's not just the WWF/WWE license, it's also the individual licenses for every wrestler in the game, plus the music.

Sounds like this has launched in a pretty bad state? Been seeing lots of comments online regarding the N64 games have a lot of issues

Input lag
Audio delay
Frame rate issues
Texture issues

Not sure if these are across all the games or just certain specific titles but it’s not great for a product Ninty are charging a premium for.

Yeah, I've just had a quick read on Reddit and opinions seem to vary quite a lot. Some folk are saying there is bad lag (input and/or sound and/or video) whilst others say it's okay. It'd be so good to see Digital Foundry take a look!

Considering what they're charging, these issues are ridiculous

If I upgraded though that’d mean it’d be nearly £40 rather than a total of £35 like they advertise it as if I bought a new subscription, still no plans to upgrade yet though.

My upgrade price (for standard to expansion) is £31.91. I have two-and-a-half months left of my current standard membership so I think the reduced price is based upon a discount of £1.50 per month (£17.99/12).

Deffo not paying it until we see clearer info about how the new VirtualConsole games run and, even then, I'm not really planning to upgrade. I'm gonna buy the Animal Crossing DLC and stick to standard membership.

Bummer, why is it so hard to get accurate N64 emulation?

Saying that wasn't the wii N64 emulator really good?

Same here, it needs quite a few more games for it to be a definite upgrade for me as well!

It's a bit insulting to charge a premium for emulation and have it not work properly. It's true that emulation is difficult, but there are open source N64 emulators already available that work better than that.

Very un-nintendo to have that happening, as they're sticklers for perfecr emulation or nothing as far as I know. Has this been handled third party?

Seeing that Mario Kart (and I assume all multilayer games) uses Lockstep Netcode meaning emulation pauses while every player advances frame by frame at the same pace. This means the sound is garbled, and the frame rate is almost nonexistent.

Ninty are always so pro-emulator and provide such a good online experience. I am shocked. SHOCKED!

This is such a transparent attempt at boosting subscription numbers

Shall we increase our online experience so it's more user friendly and engaging?

Nah let's just force people to sign up for a year if they want to play N64 games. Sorted.

Pretty sure it’s handled internally by NERD (they did the SM3D Allstars release, apparently this is using the N64 emulator they built for that release for these games)
