GB/GBC is clearly exclusive to Switch Pro

Sometime in October, Rubix, if you pay out the "TBC" cost for having the Switch Online Expansion.

A few years back I think I would have been pretty hyped for playing N64 and Mega Drive games on the Switch but gaming subscription schemes just don't float too well with me personally; I prefer to pay for a game and "own" it. The new dedicated controllers look cool but, after a few hours of being excited about them, the cost (£40 each) hit me and I'm just not keen on the idea of buying them and then Nintendo "turning off" the games a few years down the line.

Even so, I suspect that it'll be pretty good value for folk who approach this with the mindset of "I'll pay £30 for the full Nintendo Online and just enjoy the games for a year".

The N64 controller is just about the most iconic gaming item ever made, in my eyes. Might simply have to get it.

Question: Do these Switch custom controllers work using Bluetooth or something similar that would allow them to connect to other devices like a PC? Or are they proprietary and locked to just the Switch?

Hi, kaz - thanks - I just took a little break! The sun broke out earlier and I felt the pull of GR. As folk say, you can never really leave. Time away is okay, but you don't leave :-) .

You'll probably be able to use it on Mario 64 in 3d all stars.

Yeah that was my assumption based on using the Pro on PC as well, from a bit of a search online it seems like it's possible so hopefully the N64/Mega Drive controllers will be the same because I'm quite tempted by them!

Do these titles have online play? A friend and I used to play the heck out of Operation Winback back in the day and we'd love to play it again to see how it holds up.

I think for now it's mario kart that has confirmed 4 player online. But you have to create / connect to a game, there's no lobby system.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

Wonder what the chances of getting something like No Mercy on NSO are. I have no idea who would own the rights to that.

As much as I would love that, the issue with all the different wrestlers being tied to other promotions/not being under the WWE umbrella anymore and all other issues will probably prevent that from ever happening
