Not sure I'd trust that list when WWF (presumably No Mercy) is on the list. Between the WWF lawsuit changing their name to WWE and the license sitting with 2K not THQ as well as all sorts of likeness royalties I just don't see it.

I never got the hype for Jet Force Gemini I found it a pretty frustrating game with the criteria for finishing it properly being very difficult.

Wow! I'm not sure I've thought about JFG in years! (and I think about old games all the time)

I think it was a sort of dual-stick shooter at a time I was more used to single-stick stop-to-aim stuff like Goldeneye. I also remember the way the ants' heads fell off. And also how Fast those tunnel sections were with the little robot! (I may have thought about those since actually, in comparison to similar but easier stuff in games since)

Will be fun to dip back in (and not finish, like most of my NSO+ A Little Bit For The Taste sessions)

I think the games I've actually finished on the N64 app are Yoshi's Story (I love it) and.... Um... I'd have to check.

I did replay nearly all of MMask though, and frequently revisit SM64 to play Dire Dire Docks with fog (unlike all-stars version), and played a decent amount of OoT and BKazooie and Goldeneye. I'm still happy to have it on switch tap.

Would Love Snowboard Kids or Smash 64

Edit: Docks not dicks

I played through JFG all the way through back in the day, but I don't think I was ever really enjoying it. Oh to have time to waste like that again!

Didnt JFG within the Rare Replay have properly borked controls?

If so, then it's going to be even worse with NSO, where they do they absolutely basic minimum when porting it over, and it's going to be shoehorning the N64 pad on to the Switch. This has resulted in a few games suffering due to the N64's single control stock (GoldenEye'a controls were really bad on the Switch, without doing an awkward workaround)

I know it's not easy to find, but buying the N64 controller for Switch was one of the greatest purchases I've ever made.

Well, the bosses weren't good, there were some difficulty spikes and the Floyd the Droid sections were terrible, but apart from that I think that I quite liked it.

Recently been dabbling in some old school stuff on the NSO apps. Kurukurukururin is still fun and immediate on GBA. But also been playing Dynamite Headdy and Mushi on mega drive app, amongst other things.

Dynamite Headdy is pretty amazing in terms of its throw everything at the game chutzpah and some of its 3D-ish technology moments and variety, and it's very Treasure in all its frequent boss-ing.

But it's so absurdly, unforgivingly hard as you get into the mid-game on that I'm very glad I'm playing with the rewind function. Anything else would require learning each level by heart almost like a platforming Ikaruga or something!

Also: I never knew you could sort the app games by playtime and see how much you've played of everything! Fun. Who knew I'd played so much Tetris Attack on the SNES app?

I love JFG but I wouldn't want to play through N64 original which I'd assume Expansion Pack would base on; the controls improved JFG for me that I actually got 100% in JFG (and last boss beaten) on Xbox One version whereabouts N64 I never really managed to do it.

I’ve just started playing JFG this week and despite it being very fiddly, even with the N64 controller, and not really explaining its mechanics at all, I’m enjoying it. The atmosphere is wonderful and some of the camera angles are very cinematic. Im using the save state feature a bit to help and will 100% be using a walkthrough for the tribals. Is there anything else people would recommend?

Yes, use a walkthrough for the bosses too.

Thank you! I’m just at Lupus’ first boss, the two insect things and it’s tough. The game doesn’t do a great job of letting you know if you are actually hitting the right thing or not.

I remember the bosses being a bit obtuse and spammy. It's hazy.

I do have JFG boxed and really enjoyed that game back when. I should get back into it, shame the N64 analogue isn't great these days, it's very jerky. It's a lock-on game though, so more about just choosing your targets... It's almost got an on rails shooter, Sin & Punishment sort of vibe to it. Interesting game.

Finished Jet Force Gemini today and I completely get the criticisms levelled at the tribal quest and some of the boss fights, but I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay loop and had a great time with it.

I really didn’t mind the controls at all and the game does really ooze with atmosphere at some points.

I used a guide for the tribals but everything else was relatively straightforward, as straightforward as N64 games can be.

Would loved Rare to have done a sequel on the GameCube or 360 back in the day.
