I'm sure 1-2 Switch was a lesson for them. Possibly. Maybe.

A lesson that they could sell a tech demo at full price and hit 3m in sales?

Exactly. Worse than this game is coming, and that's why this one isn't full price.

After giving it a play, it's definitely Wii Sports without the charm. I miss the Wii Sports announcer. And everyone has a purple ball in bowling rather than represent the colour they are in the play order. But it's Wii Sports without the charm. Which means it's a well put together game that's serviceable for some fun.

As for online and the items... Just why? The system seems fine, with 30 points given each time you play a sport (with a small bonus for winning), but there's about twenty items per collection. That doesn't seem so bad when you consider you only need 100 points to get an item, but you can only choose the collection for the game to randomly choose an item from. That means you could be playing quite a while before you get the item you want. And everything you can customise is here. New eyes, clothes, hairstyles. And to make it worse, they're limited time.

Nintendo really expects you to be dedicated to a casual sports game long enough to get all this stuff? They're mad. I wouldn't be surprised if people just grinded through loads of Chambara matches (the quickest playing of the sports) in order to get enough points to get everything. I'll just stick to local play and Miis, thanks.

Although, I've got to give them props for allowing you guest profiles on the game rather than having to use the ones on the Switch. Means I can run the same sort of setup I did on Wii Sports without having to create more Switch profiles.

Got it for 10.99 from Amazon as a download code after I got a £20 amazon voucher from work. NICE.

I feel that - going by most perspectives that I've read/watched so far - my fears have been born out. There's no doubt that there are some good aspects, and I'm not suggesting it's bad by any stretch... it's "fine". But it perhaps gives off an over-arching impression of being just a wee bit "phoned in"?

It hurts more because I love Wii Sports Resort and have put in hundreds of hours (mainly bowling and table tennis). I might even still get this once content is added and updated... but, right now, I'm a bit disappointed. I'll steer clear of commenting much more 'cos I don't want to put a downer on folk having fun with it. More power to you!

Only played the football so far but that’s a ton of fun! Very much Rocket League in the way it feels. First match managed to assist with the first goal and then scored the winner :datass:

It defo needs work, there’s no stat tracking which it should have really. Customising your character is very limited and everything needs to be unlocked but that can only be done by playing online. I have faith this will worked on and more content added and in a year or so this will be a much more fleshed out package.

Absolutely smashed the battle royale bowling with a score of 219!

Loving this so far. My wife and I played doubles online tennis for 2 hours. Haven’t even touched the other four sports yet.

I'm super enjoying this. Haven't played Chanbara or Football yet but played plenty of Bowling, Tennis, Badminton and so far my favourite Volleyball. Volleyball is super fun to play and hitting the smashes and blocking the opponents feels so damn good when you do it.

I know some people have said there's not much charm, but the characters are adorable and I love them. :toot:

Then had a really good block to win the game in Volleyball.

No better feeling than beating someone in Tennis who insisted on watching the replays of every point they get.

Picked this up on a whim over the weekend. I was expecting it to be just like Wii Sports but shiny, but I've been pleasantly surprised by the online. The ease of just getting match after match with randoms feels very unlike Nintendo, but in a good way. The "survival" bowling has been a highlight so far. Making it just over the elimination line on the last roll is a real thrill. :o

I'm really digging the game's art style too. The environments are full of interesting details, and it gives everything a real sense of place that I wasn't expecting. It's all entirely random with Nintendo on how well they support a game after launch, but there is real potential here if they keep adding new content.

Don't want to be a Debby Downer but first impressions, I like it but don't love it yet.

It does have loads of charm, I prefer these avatars to Miis (I like the 'Here' in football nearly as much as the quivering 'MMMar-RiiiOoo' in Luigis Mansion), the graphics are good, it has a really nice colour pallet and pleasing aesthetics which suit this type of game. Sports suits the Switch nicely, Nintendo consoles are memory making machines - I know this game will create so fond post-pub memories with my mates. The games are little bit of a mixed bag for me;

Badminton is perfect - works exactly as you would hope it would and is my favourite game. The sword fighting is my surprise 'wouldn't-think-I-would-be bothered-about-but-is-actually-pretty-great'. They nailed bowling (as you'd expect). The Tennis I literally can't do - but I suspect this is a me [Mii?] problem. I like the penalty shoot-out (where you kick using the leg strap), I'm not crazy about the one-on-one games - the arm swing mechanic works - but I don't think it's particularly fun. volley-ball is the worst - I found it slow paced and boring and out of sync with what this game seems to be going for.

Golf is definitely missed. I understand they're going to introduce it later and can see why they did want to give us everything right away for the sake of longevity (and I'd be very happy with this approach for the 'less obvious' sports); but golf was such a core part of the Wii game (which you are forced to compare this game to) it does feel like an omission not including it in the base game.

I have never seen this happen playing a tennis game in my entire life. Wow.
