No idea why other than to start some sort of console collection going, but I "bought" a Wii U (Black/Premium) with Mario Kart 8 installed and physical copies of Breath of the Wild and Twilight Princess HD. Step daughter was getting rid of it to buy a Switch so I said I'd get her 2 games of her choosing so its cost me Luigi's Mansion 3 and Links Awakening Remake both of which has cost me £70.

So now she has two games she can't play?

Yeah good luck to her with getting a Switch right now :slol:

Wii U USB Helper + an external HDD = a load of games now installed on the Wii U that I'm never likely to play :toot:

Make sure you pick up the official pro controller, it's brilliant.

Bought an official one off eBay for £22 in mint condition, this bleeding Wii U is costing me more and more even if I haven’t played anything but the install everything in the newly bought external HDD game. My 6 year old has played it though, she loves MK8 so pirated the DLC for it and she’s happy. Didn’t know you could basically play VC games from N64 etc so got a nice Zelda collection installed (Breath of the Wild + DLC, Twilight Princess HD, Wind Waker HD, Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask, Spirit Tracks, Phantom Hourglass and Links Awakening)

Nintendont working, so GameCube games in HD!

The state of that dust etc. My room is a dust magnet.

I have spent the best part of a week doing Wii/GC injections on to a HDD. Nice to blow the dust off my WiiU - really does appear to be a great affordable way to play GC games on a HDTV.

I had really spotty results when injecting GC on the Wii U side. Setting up Off-TV gamepad support, needing a Wii remote just to start a game up in TV-Only mode, my wireless pad adapter crashing every game on startup. Not to mention the console shitting the bed any time I try to quit to the menu. Faff after faff after faff. :dread:

I just sacked the whole business off, now I run my GC games through USBLoaderGX on the Wii side, with a forwarder on the Wii U menu.

Did you use Nintendont? I have a few games on it and it worked flawless from the off with little to no faffing about just enabling save emulation etc. Plays on the TV and Gamepad screen at the same time.

Got a few Wii games on it (Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Metroid Trilogy etc) but I only have a damn Wii remote and not the Nunchuk part :x

Yeah I used Nintendont, injecting then with Teconmoon's program.

I suppose some of it is down to faffing with the settings. Most games worked fine out of the gate, but too much fiddling with the .ini files to fix the aspect ratio and controller mappings eventually made the arse fall out of them. Plus, for whatever reason, having my Mayflash adapter plugged in on startup meant that nothing would actually boot, but plugging it in after meant Nintendont didn't recognise the controller.

Eventually I just gave up and just plugged in my Smash GameCube adapter. I'd rather go wireless, but I want analogue triggers. Whaddyagonnado. :|

Just play them in 4:3, it's honestly fine.

A couple of GC games have a widescreen aspect built in, F-Zero GX for example.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

Yeah I've opted for leaving them in 4:3 default. With CBHC, the two clicks to GC games is great - I still use a WiiMote to select options if I want to use my Wavebird, but it all honesty it feels like a small compromise.

Was trying to get WiiWare files organised in the U side but I think I may just have to put them over in the Wii side.

Up to 50+ GC games and about 30 Wii Games. Forgot how many fun pick-up and play games the GC had.

Oh no, that's my point. I want 4:3, but I couldn't get the settings right in the .ini file. The picture always ended up either stretched or squashed in varying degrees.

Oh dear, that would piss me off. Would have hoped it would be easier than that with homebrew/emulation because that's typically the goal, normally works better than Nintendo's own stuff!

For me GC games look great via component on Wii so I stick with that. THere's perhaps a couple of completely unobtainable games like Fire Emblem I'd try on a hack.

With GameCube games I just popped ISOs on an SD card and that was it, Wii games I downloaded via Wii USB Helper (which still works like a charm)

I'm trying to get the Taiko JPN drum games for the WiiU to work with the Hario Switch drum controller - but the editing of ini files is defeating me. Frustrating when I'm sure it's possible to do as I can get the U to register the controller but not the actual drum component.

Edit: Figured it out after some trial and error - so now 3 Taiko games with DLC with official controller - woop. The modded WiiU keeps on giving.

I used this as a start point.

Nintendon't Forwarder on the U. You also need it in the appropriate location for wii. See GBATemp

I did have an issue with Nintendont GC injects when I wanted to use GC Mayflash adapter - had to use an older build model.

Again I think if you want to launch through Nintendont it's easier then injects.

I tracked down a cheap copy of Lego batman on the Wii, and then used batthaxx to softmod the vWii side.
