Thanks all, how do you find GC games running on the gamepad? Do they run/play well using this method?

I couldn't be bothered jumping through hoops to get each game to work, the tool I used seemed to have varying degrees of success for whatever reason. When it did work, they played fine, minus the analogue triggers obviously.

I did get a fair bit of screen tearing, but that's because my router was right next to my Wii U and affected the wireless reception.

Is it better running them on the TV then? Actually, does using Nintendon’t improve the image quality over...say, playing GameCube games on the Wii via component?

Can't say I've ran into any problems with the Gamepad (Image also plays on the Gamepads screen so you can play the GC games without the TV) I use the Nintendont Forwarder rather than injections and it's pretty straightforward. As for the Wii U being hacked, ended up going the coldboot Haxchi route (Purchased that Brain Training DS game to inject with Haxchi) so my daughter can play while I'm in work. She's only 6 but knew how to load up Haxchi then Mocha but with coldboot that method isn't required and I've set up parental locks so she can't delete the CBH app and brick the console :dread:

Your mileage may vary, really. It's been a long, long time since I used my Wii, so I couldn't really compare.

From what I've heard, the U's vWii mode doesn't have the best image output, it's blurry and poorly scaled, and has a more limited colour range than a real Wii. I imagine that would apply to GameCube games in Nintendont, too.
They might look better as individual injects on the Wii U side due to hardware upscaling or whatever, but I honestly couldn't tell you. I've tried both ways, and the difference was negligible to me.

How are you getting the gamepad to register as the controller? I was under the impression that the Nintendont forwarder booted vWii mode, so you could only use the gamepad as a screen?

Don't ask me how or what setting I might have changed in Nintendont UI but every time I boot Nintendont from my Wii U home-screen I get given the option to use the Gamepad as a controller (Selecting no requires me to use Wiimotes) when I get home from work I'll load it up and take a pic of the settings menu to see if its any different to yours in Nintendont.

Loaded up my Wii U for the first time in ages and played some DKCTF which was fine but when I put in Breath of the Wild it just froze on the loading/title screen. I then tried Smash and Star Fox which got further and I could play a bit but then got disc reading errors. :(
Anyone else encountered this?

Nope, but Scotch etc. Used to make some cleaning CDs if you can still find them, might help or compressed air.

Took it apart again and spray dusted and cleaned it all and now it's working again

Zelda still won't work though. Are other people's Wii U BotW working? I don't know if it's an update or if the disc is borked. It looks fine.

Mine's installed on an external HDD but works fine along with the DLC.

Have to admit it's some pretty fine engineering in there considering this thing is slightly more powerful than the Xbox 360. I have a random scrap 360 motherboard I found in a skip at university with it's MASSIVE heatsink, it really is something to behold.

Now that you've got the machine turning on again, it may be possible transfer the system's data to a new system? Even if hacks are involved.

I like your desk!

The carpet though....

Interesting that most of that console is taken up with the disc drive. I wonder how compact it could be without it.

I think commenters made a specific point of that for the Wii as well. That thing would have been even smaller (and indeed was for that short lived little red and black Wii box thing that came with no wifi) based on the over clocked Flipper architecture that was already pretty small (the GameCube is mostly a heatsink, disk drive, fans.

Remember they also crammed 4 GameCube controller ports and 2 memory card slots (memory card slots, remember those?) together with wifi, Bluetooth antennaes and, well, the whole motherboard and an SD card reader/USB socket.

And they almost did it again (sans controller ports) but with a machine several times more powerful. Nintendo hardware is really a marvel.

Shame this one broke, sorry I'm kind of killing the mood

I mean place the Wii U alongside the original PS3 (I have both under my telly now) and it's just strawberry floating ridiculous. I wish all machines were like that, and they're NEVERY noisy. Indeed obviously the cart systems are virtually dead objects.

We haven't really had anything else as small/tidy since the Dreamcast.

Agree with all of that except the lack of compact tudy machines, because the switch is bloody tiny! Take the joycons off it and it's not far off a large phone.

Yes but the usage statistics say the vast majority of people play it handheld therefore it is a handheld and not a proper console :capnscotty:

Plus I still don't own one so I generally pretend it doesn't exist. I bought my last 3DS game 2 weeks ago
