I was just pottering about on Twitter... and noticed that "Wii U" is trending :o :toot: . Maybe folk are looking at the system in a new light after playing many of the games on their Switch consoles?

Or maybe they think the U is a new add-on for the Switch ;) .

They're probably nostalgic for a time their controllers didn't break down every month.

I might regard the gamepad as the dorkiest gaming peripheral in history but it was built like a tank.

The game pad was a great controller, as was the Wii U’s pro controller, still just a shame the best game for the game pad was one of the launch games (ZombiU), I know launch games should show off the new controller and what it can do but nothing used it quite as well in my opinion.

Yeah, I think you're right, Robbo, although Pikmin 3 is terrific using the tri-play approach of Gamepad, Remote and Nunchuk; and Affordable Space Adventures is another that really used all of the functions of the pad.

I always meant to get Affordable Space Adventures but never got around to it, would buy it now but there’s not way I’ll get back to playing it with everything else I’ve currently got on my play/to play list

I picked it up a few years back as part of a Humble Bundle for the U. Yet to really play it, though :shifty: .

It’s one of the best games on the U, and makes the best use of the gamepad of any game.

Mario Chase is another contender for great use of the gamepad/TV combo.

The minigame during matchmaking in Splatoon too. The worst omission from the sequel!

I always wanted to play this, but had on-one to play it with :(

I did love that Donkey Kong obstacle course thing though. I got to the end of it, finally- only to discover there was another board. It's a shame you couldn't start from that point once you'd 'beaten' the first one, though.

Been thinking recently, other than the Wii U what other systems currently allow you to officially obtain emulated games for the likes of the pc engine pc engine and master system?

I can’t think of any system that does atm other than the odd release like castlevania rondo of blood on PS4.

You can unlock 3 additional mini games if you complete all of the amiibo challenges as well. I probably put almost a much into that as the actual game while matchmaking :slol:

Other than a couple of ACS Neo Geo games on the PS4 (which are great) you're probably right about that.

A system software update has just been released for the Wii U  .

It's 2021 and the console has more "stability" than ever :toot: .

And in case anyone who uses Haxchi/CBHC its safe to update. I uninstalled CBHC, updated and installed it again and all is fine.

I got it through a humble bundle code from someone who used to frequent these boards, but not in the past 3 years or so.

Anyway i played it a few times and, with the right people to play it with, i would imagine its one of the best multiplayer couch co op games money can buy. Unfortunatly i did not have the right people to play it with, and so it only ever got 2 hours of my time. But anyone who fancies a brilliant co op experience, DO IT!
