It's pretty clear they don't have much solid work done and are just talking ideas at this point. Don't hold them to any of the stuff they have said now because if you do you will be disappointed.

Crumbs, Trelliz. There are a lot of things to question about BG&E2 but I hadn't thought that an assessment of "unadventurous" would be bandied around! It almost looks too adventurous... it barely resembles the original game and it is steeped in the kind of unstructured ambition that leads to years of development hell and accusations of vapourware.

Let me get this right, BG&E was a pretty good Zelda impersonation and came out 14 years ago. Since then we've been continually teased with a variety of images about a prequel or sequel or who knows what. And now we get this. If you can't make a Zelda remake sequel in 14 years, what makes you think you can make this? Vapourware.

I meant that its being positioned as a prequel - the first game ends on an interesting cliffhanger and to me setting the sequel before all that smacks of not knowing where to take the story next.

I agree that it sounds mechanically too adventurous and I don't believe any of it and won't until there's some more hard info.

Yeah, I'm not usually a fan of prequels and I fear that the scope of the ideas behind this one could mean that it'll be ages before we see anything of substance. You have to admire ambition but this feels like it's far, far away.

Maybe at E3 2021 a new trailer will appear and surprise us!

Not reaally. I've always seen it sit along Jak II and Ratchet and Clank from its contemporaries, but on the more action-adventure side than platformer.

EEEEeeeh. I agree with the rest of what you're saying but not this. I actually think their hands are tied at this point: if they do a sequel it's going to alienate people who have never played or heard of the franchise. A prequel gives you the chance to to really go mad in a world you've already created.

What Ubisoft probably want to happen is the prequel sells really well. Then they remake the first so people who haven't played it can get onboard and then make the sequel.

The original obviously didn't do enough to make a sequel happen so I'm not sure how many many years later carrying straight on is going to make it any easier to sell. It's too complex a situation to just assume that they don't know where to go after the first game. We know games have to sell in big numbers to be successful (specially a big production from a company like Ubisoft) and they probably think putting a sequel out to a game barely anyone played from ages back is going to be a tough sell.

Heck at least it isn't a full on reboot. Yet.

Im looking forward to this, I enjoyed the first one and I like what theyre doing with this. A simple continuation story and giving players more of the same wouldnt really work. I like that theyre looking around at whats out there and trying to build on those kind of things. Why theyre calling it Beyond Good and Evil 2 when its a prequel is a whole other thing.

When I see the word procedural I instantly get turned off. In theory it sounds like a game of infinite discovery, in practice it's a poor substitute for good level design.

We shall see how this unfolds.

This, it kills almost any interest I have in a project too. Aside from that I think the original BG&E has aged really poorly so I have very little interest in this now anyway. If Ubisoft really must bring back an unfinished series give me XIII 2 instead dammit!

That tech looks absolutely amazing.

Be interesting to see what people posting earlier in the topic think after watching that video, because it looked pretty damn good to me.

The tech is undeniably impressive, but then so was No Man's Sky at first. Having lots of space and scale is all well and good but it needs interesting stuff to do in it too.

First cross gen game? I wouldn’t mind a remastered version of the original to tide over until number 2
