The tutorial hasn't gone to the bit where I get the mining tool. What do I do, can I get the mining tool now to dig up the thing I need, or is my game gimped?

I'm just at the bit where, having made my first flight and landed on a planet, my mission is to get the terrain manpulation tool, crd; is that what you need? Or... is there a cave that you can go into to go underground?

I reloaded, and the gizmo I had to scan appeared on the surface, so it must have been a minor glitch! Had another good hour on VR mode, it's amazing how flat it feels playing on the TV now. They have really improved the opening tutorial and streamlined a lot of the opening tutorial. I can see myself putting a lot of time into this again.

Its weird as the VR mode feels like a legit sequel.

I have to stand outside the ship for about 1 minute just so I don't crash to desktop when I attempt to get in. ffs.

That's the game simulating your guy getting the bends if you get in too soon.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Had a quick shot of the PC version last night (No VR at the moment) and so far it's ok. Definitely a bit better than the previous versions. I'm wary about going too far with it though. I may set the VR back up tonight and see how I get on with that.

Started twice and both times I ended up on planets with horrible environmental conditions. First was a lovely snowy (But very cold) planet, then the next was a Nuclear hellscape (Which had some amazing atmospheric effects. Looking forward to the VR.

I was watching some streams and it's a shame the PS4 visuals take such a hit with the VR.

True, Mafro, but I wonder if...

The picture looks much sharper in 2D mode when doing this and *maybe* it'll improve 3D as well. Will try it out later!

They released a PC hotfix this afternoon that might fix that.

I have a cliff-top base in the Galactic Hub, where if you portal in, you end up outside the base, and hundreds of feet above the ground. A quick turn and jet pack blast and you’re safe... but I don’t know if I want to attempt this in VR.

Sounds like a Mario Maker 2 level

I just had a random crash to desktop and lost the last 15 minutes of gameplay. :fp:

Might give this a go this evening, just to see how much has changed since I last played it.

Just started a fresh game in vr.

Sooo much has changed in this since launch, it's pretty crazy. Move controls are a bit fiddly and the usual crap psvr tracking is present (not the game's fault though). I just managed to spend 2 hours straight playing it without really noticing, which says enough about how immersed I was. Resolution is pretty gooseberry fool, but then it's a PlayStation not a high end pc.

Really really enjoyed that, can't wait to move on a bit and start exploring beyond the system I'm in.

Amazing it's a free update too, they could have easily charged for it.

So I started a new game of No Man's Sky Beyond with my PSVR. I started on a planet with some, thankfully, non-hostile creatures near me. The sense of immersion was great I felt like I was there in midst of this thick grass. And it was great when the sun first set. I needed to explore to find parts for my ship which it took me a while especially as I got lost in an underground cavern. I switched to free movement to get back quicker but this really made me nauseous. I saved my game went back today and had my first flight and it was fantastic! My God just so great Forgive me for posting my own tweet but I want to share it with you. :D

Brilliant stuff, Venom... it was great to see (and hear) your experience! I've only played the game a little in VR mode but I can relate to your feeling! I noticed that you've renamed your system as Venom Space :-)

I am building my base at the moment; all the walls are done and most of the roof. I have setup a portal inside and powered it up. My attention was then focused on making my first trip to a space station. This was cool as I could edit my appearance and then I teleported back to the base. It feels like I'm gonna get sucked right back into this game!

Still not had a chance to get on and play since the update but would be interested in some multiplayer is people are getting involved. Before this update I’d leave my settings open for people to join but the best I ever got was the floating balls of light as playmates.

Not sure if they’ve changed it in the last few months but you used to be able to use multiplayer to teleport people around the universe. I think since they made the change to the big portals, it’s a lot harder to get to places like the Galactic Hub, as now you either just go there by jumping thousands of times, or joining the game of someone already there.

I started with a new save and the crashing seems to have stopped after the last update.

I don't know if it is just me but the worlds don't seem as interesting as they used to be. Most have strawberry float all grass and look so barren.

I did come across this place though, not sure what to call it. :dread:
