Yeah, I just did that, too - after dying lots of times as the fighters seem much tougher now - and the asking price was 7 million credits! I don't have that kinda dough at the moment :) .

My quest for a scientist is over so I can now build voltaic cells. Also realised you can build upwards and then link using ladders.

I played a little bit more last night. I'm enjoying it and I'm getting used to all of the changes and enhancements.... but it seeems a lot tougher. Before it was a bit of a "wandering about" experience and now it seems that there are lots of things trying to kick your butt; way more fierce creatures and the ships are far tougher to defeat. Iron suddenly seems to have become a crucial component, too.

I'm having fun... but I think I need to put a bit more effort in to pick up the new gaming mechanisms.

Iron is definitely critical, I've found that asteroid mining is actually something I do now instead of just ignoring them.

You know how this game seems to give you the same kind of creatures all the time. Well, about that...

I was too busy laughing to run away/shoot and then it killed me.

Patch 1.13

Hello!

We've just released patch 1.13 which is available to download now. Full notes are as follows:

Patch notes

Fixed a bug that would make the player character small.

Space battles will now vary in size more and players should see bigger battles.

Fixed the instantaneous death loop that could occur in survival mode if you saved with 1 health and no hazard protection. You will still be on the verge of death when you load in, but it won't happen instantaneously.

Fix for steam controller not being able to warp.

Removed up, down, left, right as quick menu navigation keys to allow left handed players to move while using the quick menu.

Page Up and Page down can now be used to navigate up and down in the quick menu.

Removed duplicated planets from discoveries menu.

Fixed an issue with redeeming promo ships in survival, which would result in the ship being spawned above the ground.

Fix for missing ruins underwater which could cause missions to point to nothing.

Various audio tweaks and fixes:
- Added ladder climbing sounds.
- Fixed base building prop sounds not playing when placed inside a Freighter.
- Added sound effect for calling Freighters.
- Added sound effect when using communication stations.
- Fixed an issue which could affect ambient sound in Freighters.
- Changed the sound effect when using the Terminus Teleporter.

I think I'll pick this up next week. Seems like a good choice for the Christmas break.

Interesting, the CEX price dropped to £12 before the patch, now it has risen to £18.

Still many, many copies available on the shelves.

Picked this up directly through Steam yesterday. I think I have played around five hours so far and I am enjoying it a lot.

I have made my first jump through hyperspace and I think right now I'm gathering materials to refuel my hyperdrive.

Anyone still playing? It's perfect right now with all this time off work and general laziness!

Yep, I'm still plugging away in my little corner of the galaxy. Mostly working on base farming upgrades, some of those elements can be very tricky to find.

Just bought this off PSN in the sale. Couldn't stop myself.

I'm away for NY so will give it a go in a couple of days hopefully

Well I've played 4-5 hrs and just managed to hyperdrive for the first time. I must say that so far I like it. Wasn't too sure initially but grew into it and figured out what to do.

Not doing too well on slot management though. Keep filling up and trudging to find somewhere to sell, or just dump a couple of things.

It is particularly challenging at the start, KingK. Try and amass cash to buy additional slots for your suit. I've maxed min out at (I think, without checking) 48 slots and it makes collcting stuff a lot easier. I did that ahead of upgrading my ship to any great extent; that's next on the agenda.

Question for those of you who have played this for 10 hrs or more....

When/how do I get the opportunity to build a base? I've met 2 characters who offer me their services but I can't take them up on it as I haven't built a base.

I'm at the point where I've hyperdrived and found materials to refuel hyperdrive. I now seem to be able to fly where I want?
