Still holding out on this, I'm almost certain it'll hit Gamepass in the next couple of months. It'll look lush on my 4KTV.

It certainly looks great, but whenever I play I find myself sinking quickly into boredom.

It's basically just better looking Space Minecraft, it can be fun but yeah it's also pretty tedious sometimes.

I played this the other night. I think it'd be a lot better multi player and it some ways the new content has made me enjoy the game less. It's good fun to pick at once in a while and mess around with.

Another free expansion, Beyond, will arrive this summer and include a new online multiplayer component called No Man's Sky Online.

Eurogamer wrote:Hello Games says that No Man's Sky Online will feature "many recognisable online elements" and will bring people together "like never before". However, it also stresses that it doesn't consider the game to be an MMO, and that the new features "won't require a subscription, won't contain microtransactions, and will be free for all existing players".

Hello Games plans to share more information about this component, and two other unspecified components, "in the coming weeks".

They don't need to do this, they've already done so much to make good on the game's initially unmet promise. It's lovely to see nonetheless though. Maybe I'll see if I can get back into it.

Well, following the State of Play video shared this evening, we now know that No Man's Sky VR is coming as part of the Beyond update... for free :o :toot: . This aspect has so much potential - I'm just imagining those colourful worlds in VR! - and I can't wait to try it out :D .

I'm so back in for VR No Mans Sky. Can't wait. Though Summer is always an uncomfortable time to play VR. Sweaty headsets ahoy!

Bring it on  :toot: .

Oh, and just in case anyone had concerns about the term "VR mode", we can rest easy:

PlayStation EU Blog wrote:No Man’s Sky VR is not a separate mode, but the entire game brought to life in virtual reality. Anything possible in No Man’s Sky, NEXT or any other update is ready and waiting as an immersive and enriched VR experience.

I can't wait to try it, I think it will work really well given that NMS's cockpits are pretty simple and seem to use large fonts and screens, at least when compared to other space games like Everspace which really didn't work very well in VR.

I wonder whether NMS has actually made any money given all the extra free content they've worked on since launch. It does seem like it's now going well beyond those original (Molyneuxesque) claims. I'll definitely back in for VR in the summer though I have some concerns about how different control schemes will map as I'd like to do the starship stuff with HOTAS.

Yep, regardless of the differing views on what folk thought the game should have been at launch, it's hard to argue with the sheer volume of changes and additions that have been delivered since. I haven't played for some time now but I feel like this is near the top of my "next game" list. I'd like to get back into the swing of things before the Beyond / VR update arrives.

I don't think the controls will change in the VR mode, Rex; at least, that's my assumption. I hope to continue playing using the DualShock whilst wearing the VR headset.

I think this could work amazingly well in VR. Full respect to Hello Games, they went above and beyond to fix the game after the launch disaster, many developers would have just written the game off.

I don't think they really get the respect they deserve for turning this game around so much. Mistakes are forgivable when developers really go the extra mile to make good on promises. The game now exceeds the original concept in my opinion.

As much as I bounced off the game at launch, and was critical of Hello's handling of it all, the support they've given the game has been unprecedented I'd say. So much new stuff, and all absolutely free.

strawberry floating kudos.

Oh man. That's pretty incredible as a freebie. Not that I'll be running anything in VR on my PC for a while yet.

I assume the broken GOG version won't be getting this update, as it talks about Steam VR. Pretty tempted to get the Steam version while it's currently on sale so I can be shot of the GOG one once and for all.
