I thought the first two No More Heroes games were flawed but fun and extremely cool games.

I'm a little 'eh' about what I've seen so far about this new game though. Might get around to trying it soon after its release if I hear it's good (if I have a Switch by that point), but in the meantime I'll wait for the actual No More Heroes 3.

Don't know what to this of this new NMH but I wish they port 1+2 over to Switch.

Digital version is available for pre-order and pre-load on the eShop.
Game + Season pass is about £35, or £25 for just the base game.

If it gets decent reviews then I'm down as I had a good experience with the prior two games. Sure, it's a lot different - and bit of a step back if you ask me - but from recent previews I'm confident Suda's humour and Travis' character will strike through.

Even if it ends up being mediocre, I want to do my bit to increase our chances of getting NMH 3 in the future.

Think I'll pass (hah) on the season pass, but the game itself is a probable daywunner.

Physical game and Season Pass for £35 doesn't seem that bad, but I'm gonna wait on reviews as it just doesn't excited.
but if they was a port of NMH 1+2 it would be a day one buy.

Same here, ibdw. It's No More Heroes / Travis and so I'm interested... but the mini-game nature of this title makes ma a wee bit unsure. I wonder if the gameplay will be good enough to stand on its own or whether the title is carrying it? I hope it's great!

Loves No More Heroes, but still very unwhelmed by this in trailers... Anticipating 6 and 7 review scores. Would love to be wrong.

Yeah, I'm really unconvinced by what I've seen so far, Clarkman. The main - or, at least, a pretty big - part of the game seems to be a "drag racer" type aspect where the buttons to activate the bike controls change each time... and so you're scrambling to quickly work out what function requires what button. It just doesn't sound like fun.

Like you, though, I hope that I am wrong. I would love for this to be great!

It's all sounding very suitably Suda51 with deliberate convention breaking and dismantling of videogame norms, so the buttons changing every time fits right in.

Not normally one to pick up a game these days without reading reviews but it’s Suda so going in blind. Anyone else picking this up?

Yeah I'm grabbing it rather blind, but it's not fully priced either so I figured it was worth the risk.

I can’t seem to find confirmation anywhere but does anyone know if the UK physical edition actually contains the game on a cart or is it just a download code inside the box?

I *think* that UK / Euro versions contain a cart, Milner - this Amazon listing suggests so. I believe it's the Japanese version that is download only. Oh, and in case anyone is unsure, the packaged version includes the season pass (as a download code!).

Reviews

GameSpot - 6
This is not the return of No More Heroes you'd hoped for, but it at least shows signs of a series that still has life in it.

https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/travis ... 0-6417065/

IGN - 6/10

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is a low point for the action franchise. While each of the game worlds try to introduce new mechanics, they all devolve into predictable fights with waves of bland enemies. Slicing through them with the Beam Katana isn’t as satisfying as before because of the mostly top-down perspective. Well-written visual novel sections offer some classic Suda51 humor, but it’s not enough to elevate Travis Strikes Again to more than just a monotonous, disjointed hack and slash game.

Eurogamer - Avoid

If it's a parody of older games, the truth is they were rarely this bad. Travis Strikes Again ends up looking - and playing - like a Net Yaroze game made in a hungover fug. Towards its end, as the fourth walls keep tumbling away, it does find some redemption - and any spark that's there is in that final mess - but it's too little, and too late, and so mired in self-reference it feels like Suda is wanking into the void. Is Travis Strikes Again meant to be this hollow? No More Heroes pulled the same trick at various points, with its knowingly empty open world and its mindless mini-games, but there's so little offered in return this time around it feels like the joke's on us. The real truth is, though, the joke isn't funny anymore.

Destructoid - 7/10
Travis Strikes Again has some undeniable lows but the No More Heroes charm and the prospect of co-op lifts it up. Whether it's learning the intricacies of individual types of ramen or watching Travis curse at a talking cat, this is something that could only be born out of the mind of Suda 51 and his team at Grasshopper.

Game Informer - 8.25/10
Travis Strikes Again finds a good balance between fun, approachable action and reveling in Suda51 and Grasshopper’s signature style. It’s not the most intricate action game out there, but the simple combat works well as a vessel for several one-off moments that elevate it above its simple premise.

Blimey... opinions are all over the place on this one. In times gone by I probably would have dived in regardless, but I'm really unsure about this. Will wait a few weeks and see what folks think about it after extended play.
