Suda51 is the score this game wishes it had on Metacritic.

Also, Suda51 turned 51 this year

S: Neither was the last one. It was a robbery. M: Really? S: Yeah. She stole my heart. And my crown. (❍ᴥ❍ʋ)

Well, I don't know how to share links. But RGT85, a sort of American YouTube reviewer who keeps popping up on my telephone shouting things at me reckons it's a pretty dull game, and also bugged, and so he couldn't finish it. Hack and slash, nothing new, shameful end for a fun exciting series.

Though honestly, that might well be wrong, because it's the internet, and I don't trust those sort of reviews.

But, then again, I just subscribed to GamesTM (well "just" - a couple of months ago) because I got interested in games again, and then the mag got cancelled.

So now I have to be lectured to by Edge instead, against my will, as they have apparently just taken over that subscription, without a please or thank you.

And, yes. I am an old man shouting at a cloud. And, in keeping well that, I have long since forgotten my original point.

I thought Eurogamer is pretty decent for reviews.

Or just wait for the new Edge reviews topic.

They generally review less and less games however, although they did make a point of this one being Bad. Not terrible, but just, well, bad. I hope fans enjoy it. I miss the times were almost every single release on a Nintendo console got at least half a page review, including the third party ports (that were sometimes better or different) and the hilariously bad. It felt like there was more to discover, but digital marketplaces and indie releases have changed all that, for better or worse. I don't really pay much attention to reviews anymore, at most I'll skim read them, or if I'm procrastinating really hard I'll read an entire review for a game I have no intention of playing.

See Argos has it for £30 which I think is a decent price to take a hunch on it, though they haven't got any stock near me.

Started this last night (after the worry about the dumb blank loading screen and thinking my cart was broken).

It's pretty average in gameplay but it's certainly styling, and I absolutely love all the indie t-shirts you can wear :toot:

The second game also seems more fun that the first with the road tile rotating, that's what I'm in at the moment.

The visual-novel like bike update was also bonkers

Finished this last night, took a little over 8 hours.

Fifth level being Shadows of the Damned was a complete surprise and super cool as a fan.

The final level being Hotline Miami was also great stuff and delivered on that early/initial trailer.

The game basically gets better as it goes, with the first level being easily the worst. What elevates the game's interest is the variety of level gimmicks, and the first level is completely lacking in them. Skill chips and making a good load-out to suit your play also greatly improves the gameplay, but that doesn't really kick in until after the first level once you've started to collect a few.

The other major problem the game has is in levels taking too long, leading to their novelty wearing off. The second and third levels are the worst for this probably, especially the second which I really enjoyed to begin with but it started to drag by the end, and could have done with being half the length.

I'm looking forward to the DLC levels, and I'm hoping for No More Heroes 3, especially after that tease with a free-control camera at the end!

I recommend the game to any Suda/Grasshopper fans

Very late bump, but as a big fan of FSR, is there something here for me if i were to pick this up? I'm not familiar with The No More Heroes, so if it is all very referential to that then i may just leave it.

Also, did you ever try the DLC, and was it any good?

Thanks :)

There are some character appearances from The Silver Case I believe, which is related to Flower, Sun and Rain, but not much more than that I don't think. Honestly there isn't much linking FSR to this game and if you're unfamiliar with No More Heroes, most of the game will be lost on you. Shadows of the Damned and Hotline Miami are the two games other than NMH that get more than just referenced by having levels based on them. Gameplay-wise there is no comparison between this and FSR.

I did go back and play the DLC, and I enjoyed it yeah. It was more of the same, but more of the good design than bad design. Nothing to change anyone's mind on the game.

Thanks for the opinions there. Sounds like i will probably continue to skip it then. I see its very cheap now, but its not like i don't have 100 other games already that are in need of playing still.
