I always thought Chappie was what Short Circuit would have been if made today.

As for remakes, please never touch The Goonies, I swear to God!

They did remake The Thing didn't they? Several years ago?

It was a prequel, thankfully.

Isn't The Thing a remake itself of The thing from another Planet?

Indeed - John Carpenter includes a couple of clips of it in another film of his, Halloween. What a nerd.

The execs trying to cover up when the inevitable Naked Gun remake starring Will Ferrell bombs at the box office:

It would be nice if Hollywood didn't insist on remakes and reboots of established franchises and instead you know make new and exciting films.

I must admit, i am getting tired of the lack of originality when it comes to the big blockbuster movies at the moment.

For a start, I can't remember the last time there was a truly great (and original) alien invasion film.

The last ones I can think of were Redline and Battle: LA (those titles might not be 100% correct!). Both were gooseberry fool and tanked.

Hollywood will make movies that make money. When was the last time an alien invasion movie made a decent return at the box office?

These things are cyclical though. At the moment it is superheroes, in 5 or 10 years time it will be something else.

Alien invasion is more suited to a TV series than a film.

How about Live, Die, Repeat or whatever the heck it was called with Tom Cruise?

Oh yeah forgot that one.

I guess most superhero movies are also technically alien invasion movies.

I actually really liked Battle: LA, so much so i told Aaron Eckhart just that in a letter, and he then sent me a hand signed Battle: LA postcard as a thankyou.
