Notice that the US box has little icons on what the DSi does? Probably to give soccer moms an idea of the difference between the DSi and the DS Lite

In a light blue version as it seems. Wonder if we'll get a European release date soon.

The US version will be a bit more import friendly than the Japanese version as you will actually be able to read the menus.

I thought it was going to be out in Europe before the US and I've seen nothing of an EU date as yet.

Do you have a source for that?

No but I'm sure that was the plan a few months ago as they didn't think the US market needed the DSi just yet due to the Lite selling so well.

We don't need it either. DS Lite still sells out over regularly.

But DSi gives Nintendo the additional ability to sell games online. I'd expect them to plug the DSi and phase out the Lite as soon as possible.

When they release the SDK to western devs maybe it'll be something to utilise for Nintendo.

How does the DSi store downloaded games?

SD cards.

A Virtual Console which supports Gameboy/Colour/Advance, Game Gear, Bandai WonderSwan, Neo Geo Pocket Colour and Atari Lynx would rule.

Isn't there 256MB of internal memory on the DSi?

I believe it's a similar set-up to the Wii in that you can't run the software from the SD card. Welcome back the game-transferring and fridge-cleaning we are all so fond of.

I'm pretty sure it saves the games to the internal memory if you have room, doesn't it?

And running games direct from the SD cards would be giving free run to the pirates. Inconvenient as it may be, it's easy to see why Nintendo has done that. It's the people who pirate games we should be facepalming at.

I don't really have a problem with swapping between internal and SD card memory.

It's just that the Wii interface makes the entire process take a lot longer than it should. I can't believe they haven't done anything about it yet. All they need to do is put an SD card tab on the main channel menu.

Not when other mobile gaming devices load from memory cards. Nintendo are just too strawberry floating cautious. They could quite easily safety in place for this. I can't run pirated gaming software on my phone for example as it needs to read the NGage service. It's easy to do but Nintendo again avoid the easy option.

This will also limit the size of games we will see coming to the service.
