I can kind of see the logic in extending it to 11th/12th, the cars are so reliable these days that even a team in the cusp of being the 6th fastest, isn’t going to sneak into the points that often, so this would help it even out over the season. Hope they don’t put points all the way down to 20th though, there has to be some effort out in to get a point.

It also helps to really cement the order of the lower half drivers which is a point I think is more important. It's less about the teams for me.

I’d be delighted if Hülkenberg just got a win or podium at this stage

Probably isn’t the case, but could Newey just be retiring? No idea when his current contract is up at Red Bull though.

I could probably stomach one more championship for Hamilton if it's at the expense of Red Bull losing Newey. The scenes at Red Bull with Horner sulking would be worth it all.

Red Bull design chief Adrian Newey is to leave the team in the wake of the controversy involving allegations about team principal Christian Horner.

Newey, regarded as the greatest Formula 1 designer in history, has told Red Bull he wants to move on, BBC Sport has learned.

The 65-year-old has been unsettled by the situation at Red Bull since Horner was accused of sexual harassment and coercive, abusive behaviour by a female employee, which Horner denies.

Red Bull and Newey did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
