I bet they’ll have plenty of pace when/if he gets there.

This only works if he gets by Russell asap.

Gaining 2 seconds a lap in free air is one thing, but as Russell and Alonso have shown, it's almost so easy to keep a much faster car behind you. Verstappen might get Russell, but I don't see him being a danger to the podium without an incident. His tyres won't be fresh by the time he catches the leaders.

Only good thing is that Albon looks set for a couple of points.

Great result but probably one of the most boring "races" I've ever endured.

One thing that’s amazed me now, is we’ve had 4 different race winners and still not even had one good race yet :fp:

It's actually a pretty good result for the championship, although Mclaren and Ferrari are going to take points off each other.

Actually got a tear in my eye for that podium. Leclerc deserved it, long overdue but I still don't see him as a world champion. Was bloody great to see Ferrari win after a fantastic performance again. Shame the race was dire.

I don't really understand how Sainz was allowed to restart from his grid position, but the tyre situation wasn't reset. That makes no sense at all.

Restarting the race after one lap, and saying no one needs to pit now, was only ever going to make for an even duller race than usual.

Happy to see another strong result for McLaren and Ferrari. Starting to feel like the good old days with them two fighting at the front.

One thing that is certain, is Perez needs to improve and quick, unless Red Bull regain their form from the start of the season, Verstappen will be struggling to win the WCC on his own like he did in 2023, unless he improves by the mid point I could see them considering throwing Tsunoda in there for half a season, they don't see him as a long term candidate, but if he impresses in the main team, they could try and make rival teams pay more to free him from the Red Bull setup.

In case anyone was interested the Indy 500 is delayed due to storms for at least three hours, which is a shame.

It’ll be 9:44pm. There are of course over an hour of pre-race ceremonies that they still have to do for some reason.

What's the point in doing the grid walk if you aren't going to engage.

Also why aren't RB interested in getting Sainz to replace Perez? I wonder if Max has told them no.

Just watched the Ch.4 coverage.

I think it's gooseberry fool that Carlos was allowed to keep his 3rd place at the restart.

Let him back in obviously, but whatever his track position was when the red flag was shown.

Who should I watch out for?

As I don't know the most of them.

All time classic 500. Newgarden broke my heart taking O'Ward on the final corner. But that was one of the most well earned wins and I can't hold that against him. Incredible race.
