This thread's been great and I've enjoyed reading it so far. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Could anyone do a similar thing with ARCADE?

Pacman on the cover = strawberry floating slow month.

There's some brilliant covers coming in the next few months though, Resident Evil was fantastic (Sony however didn't think so) & Destruction Derby 2. Shame it didn't look anything like the actual game.

Their news section was pretty run of the mill at this stage, though there were glimpses of the trendsetter it would very quickly become. Even in this day & age of the internet, it'd still work today. I know there's usually a bit of idealistic nostalgia attached to these sort of things, but in this case PSM really was ahead of its time. 'Loading' was more than just news coverage. It really came together in 1998.

Aye, 1998 was easily the best year for the magazine. Hopefully this thread will keep interest until I get to that point...

I got issue 1 from ebay a couple of weeks ago. I don't think their review of Destruction Derby could have been more wrong. I never had any of the problems they brought up. They also mentioned it only has 6 tracks & a bowl. Which isn't true, for anyone that spent some time advancing through the Championship - not to mention the secret ??? track.
