That's not really a jump scare, just creepy. I think he means the trap where you find the shotgun. That's the only one I can think of, anyway.

Can't remember what it is you find but you're in a surgery bit or something in an office and take something out of a drawer. The game actually takes control away from you for a second (making it totally obvious something is about to happen) and makes your character look up and when you turn around there's a splicer right in front of you.

Ah, yeah, I remember that. Yeah, it was really obvious. I think there's an indicator there's supposed to be someone in there with you as soon as you walk in, as one of the mortuary slab doors shuts, but it's easy to miss.

New trailer is brilliant. Looks like they've done a decent job with the remaster.

That one really got me, mainly as they'd been building the tension for a while before (shadows, a body floating past, a rapidly shutting morgue door). As far as I recall, the game doesn't actively take away control, it just slightly readjusts your view (like at the start when it nudges you to look at the sinking plane tail).

There's a great jump scare fakeout in Buried at Sea: one of Sander Cohen's videos end with "LOOK BEHIND YOU." When you exit, you turn to find a statue of a seated bunny-man.

Scared the gooseberry fool out of me.

I remember having a real issue with the Press Start review when Bioshock came out, but after finishing it I felt they were bang on. It felt ridiculously dragged out towards the end, and I couldn't wait to get it over and done with.

That said, I'd probably buy the remaster but this will have to take a seat behind Skyrim.

I loved Infinite though. The racism angle I felt was superb, if you have a reasonable knowledge of early US history it was extremely creative.

I think this series is good, but not great. All three of them are flawed in different ways. I just play for the story, the gameplay is just sort of okay in all of them, but it doesn't really grab me.

Bioshock Infinite was an interesting ride in terms of story.

Was that where you turn around after some slow paced story revelation and *bam* that thing is in your face/coming at you? That tactic hadn't been utilised in the game up to that point, so while it may not have surprised you, it was *totally* a jump scare!

It happened in Infinite to pant ruining effect with a Boy of Silence standing directly behind you after you press a button.

Yeah, definitely a jump scare. So cheap, can't stand 'em.

I think they are used so sparingly in Bioshock trilogy that its ok, I mean it has 2 across 3 games? (unless I missed one in 2)

I *hate* jump scares so even a few are too many.

I'll still be playing the remasters, though.

The setting and story carry the Bioshock games. I wouldn't say the mechanics are dreadful, but if you take them as just another FPS then they are absolutely average. That said, I really enjoyed playing through every one of the games (including the second, which is highly underrated).

Not gonna lie brer, you've put quite the dampner on my expectations. :( I never found the gun action top notch, hacking tourets and those flying bot things is great fun as is setting up mine and bolt shot trip wires before you tackle a Big Daddy. The scenery pushed the game for me, it's the most visually impressive game world I've seen.

The story takes a turn for the worst after the 'twist' and I miss Atlas' accent for the second half of the game, however, the recordings you pick up are all very well acted and really made me search every nook and cranny so I could learn more and more about Rapture.

HeatLight is right in 2 being under rated, the story is slightly weaker as in it's normal to a point. I believe Bioshock 2 has the better set peices out of all the games, the first encounter with the Big Sister when she slices the window open to let the water is stunning, the music and sound effects are spot on. The gunplay is also better in B2 as you can dual wield plasmids and guns.

Bioshock 2 is the best one in terms of combat, it feels a bit responsive, and the dual wielding mechanic makes combat way more fast paced and fun.

Minerva's Den was pretty great as well.

Seems quite expensive in the places I've looked. Mind you, 3 substantial games of a high merit. Is 1 > 2 > 3 what we're going with?

I'd agree with that.

It's €50 digitally on X1...
