Fire Emblem. I finished it last week and it's still as good as ever. Might still get it anyway, though slightly annoyed by the lack of cross-buy. I'd like to see if the Awakening DLC goes on sale, too.

Will there be a third part next week?

Will probably get Fire Emblem then! Not meant to be buying so many games but that is a good enough deal for me.

Call of Duy Advanced Warfare won't be made available for the U. Not unexpected but I did hope that, as with Ghosts last year, a last-minute launch would be made.

Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg wrote:Nintendo's a great partner. They've continued to be a great partner and we're going to continue to support them with the IP it makes sense with.

As with Ubi's recent announcement, this kind of comment is a bit worrying. The "IP that makes sense" will be the shovelware.

C'mon, Nintendo - hard work is needed now. We require a few miracles in the form of frequent first-party games, new hardware bundles and lower pricing. Don't give up on the fight!

Do those eShop discounts and Fire Emblem go up at any specific time? I know with PSN it's always late afternoon before they're live. Wish we could access the eShop through a browser.

Nintendo need to sort the eShop and Virtual Console out with the Wii U. The Wii had masses of games available to buy, why weren't they made instantly available with the Wii U? Why are there only two pages of SNES games vs five or six on the Wii? :|

Because Nintendo are dicks.

That's literally all I got. I can't see any other reason.

It's tricky. Yeah, they coud just make the standard 'Wii' versions of the games available to buy now. In fact, they do - via the Wii Shop.

If they did that, there would be moaning about no additonal features being added for the U. If they take longer to release them, adding Gamepad capability and save states, there would be moaning about the delay.

But, yes, I too would like a bigger range of Virtual Console titles that are designed for the U. After nineteen months I would have expected a few N64 games to be available. Nintendo should have done a lot better on this front.

To be honest, the state of the Virtual Console from day one could (maybe even should) have been managed a lot better. In retrospect there are a lot of basic features that probably should have been available (manual region switching for games, for example) and they should have planned for the taking of VC games from one Nintendo platform to another.

It is surprising that something so, apparently, simple takes so long to do. If people can create new texture packs for Wii games via the Dolphin emulator, why can't a multinational corporation like Nintendo put its whole, or the majority of its, back catalogue up on the eShop? Ultimately, if Nintendo wants my money, it can do that. Until then, I can run pretty much everything I want to play on my PC. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Twilight Princess looks amazing on Dolphin.

It's frustrating. I'm concerned by the lack of VC support from third parties. Makes me think I'm not going to be able to bring some of my Wii VC games to Nintendo's next console if they aren't released on Wii U. That would annoy me to no end.

I wish Square would release their back catalogue over here soon. Same with Sega getting Mega Drive games on there.

All the real pros picked it up for next to nothing in the Mario Kart offer.

And use the £5 premium bonus they got from it to pick up Fire Emblem.

I think Nintendo's VC prices are a bit too high and the discounts are rubbish, but I still can't say no. Just bought Kirby's Dream Land 2 and Donkey Kong 94 on 3DS, and Kirby's Adventure, Kirby's Dream Land 3 and Fire Emblem on Wii U.

If Squeenix can give me Rad Racer on the Wii U for less than I can get it on NES cart, I will buy it digitally.

Gamestop is offering £40 off certain pre-orders when you trade in 2 games from a selected list. The pre-orders include Super Smash Bros for Wii U with the GameCube controller. Gamestop is selling the bundle for £59.98.

Two of the games on the trade in list are Persona 4 Arena (360) and Lego Batman 2 (Wii U). You can get these at The Game Collection for £8.95 and £9.99, respectively. This means that you can buy the bundle for £38.92.

Lego Batman 2

The order page where you order your trade in envelope and pre-order your game:

For anyone worried about the trade ins being honoured, note point 13 in the terms and conditions at the bottom of the offer page:
13. In the event that the list of games eligible for trade should change, GameStop will notify all customers. Pre-orders placed before any update of the list will be honoured.

Not bad at all. Does it come with the game, controller and adapter? A great deal if so. Some people took advantage of a similar offer with The Last of Us Remastered, and I think some of them got charged twice (both with and without the trade-in discount) but the problems were swiftly resolved.

I assume the controller will work with both Wii and Wii U Virtual Console games too?

I ended up watching the Hyrule Warriors direct last night, and was actually impressed by it. Definitely worth a watch if you're even the slightest bit curious about the game. Clearly loads of fan service in there and looks pretty good. I can't see myself picking it up at launch, but I'd give it a go when it's cheaper.

Few details are known about the game/controller pack. The controller is "Smash" branded but it's not clear if the required controller adapter is supplied; it's not mentioned in product descriptions and so I'd expect this to be a separate purchase. As mentioned earlier in the thread there will also be third-party pads made by PDP and these are officially-endorsed by Nintendo. These pads work differently as they'll plug into Wii Remotes to function; as with the Wii Classic Controller pads. Finally, it's not yet clear whether either type of pad would work with other games and Virtual Console titles; as the button layout is different I'd expect software updates would be required to add compatibility.

I'm determined to hold off from picking up Hyrule Warriors until it is cheap. The effort being put in to re-create the Zelda imagery is admirable but I feel that the gameplay will only disappoint. If you go in with the knowledge that it's not a Zelda game then there could be lots to enjoy... but, for me, it is a mis-step.

I could see them working on anything that doesn't need two sets of should buttons i.e. everything on the Virtual Console. It would be pretty strange for Nintendo to release a controller that literally only works on one game. Of course, this leads to speculation that GameCube games will be added to the VC but then we have to ask: where are the N64 games?
