I just think the visuals look a bit Wii-like. They're definitely not up there with the best Wii U stuff, which is disappointing. Arguably halfway between Wii and Wii U.

It's the visuals and sounds that are attracting me; the latest videos make the game look amazing. But I think the gameplay will prove to be a bit yawnsome.

It just feels wrong that a Zelda game is coming out and I'm not hyped for it. I guess the crux of the matter is that this isn't really a new Zelda game; it's just Nintendo draping some finery over a rickety old horse.

Jawafour, what's the Christmas line-up looking like for Wii U? Is it basically three big titles - Smash Bros, Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors?

Hyrule Warriors is only just over a month away so I'm not sure you can call it part of the Christmas lineup.

Thin pickings, other than what you mention I can only see Disney Infinity 2.0, Lego Batman 3, Just Dance 2015, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 and Sonic Boom.

True, Hyrule Warriors will have come and gone by Christmas.

Can you imagine if the Christmas line-up was this?

Yoshi's Woolly World Nov 14
Smash Bros Nov 21
Captain Toad Nov 28
X Dec 5

Dont worry. I'm a big Zelda fan and I cant muster any hype for it. So your not alone. Despite the sheer amount of Zelda stuffed into it I don't think it even remotely feels Zelda at all. Not even in a spin off way. All the DLC stuff just makes me feel even colder to it.

Oh and the sound. :dread: It's like they have copied a bunch of youtube metal covers on the cheap. :dread:

I can't see it selling well outside of Japan. My prediction: 250K JPN, 100K US, 80k Europe.

I probably will get Hyrule Warriors, but I'm not convinced by it. Good fan service so far, but the core gameplay doesn't look that exciting. Then again I have never played any of these games before.

Also needs more Tingle.

I think it will sell a little bit more than that, Fire Emblem on Gamecube did better number than that.

Its too many Nintendo games for a single quarter though.

2 (what we are actually getting) is too few, 5 (your dream lineup, if you include Bayonetta 2) is too many.

What they really need is a couple of quality 3rd Party games, I'm not saying Nintendo need the support that Sony and MS get, but they do need some.

Maybe, but its not exactly what I had in mind when I said a quality 3rd Party title.

I meant something exclusive or at the very least something not 6 months old on other platforms.

I said I don't consider it a fighting game.

I do consider it a very good game, though.

And you can't tell me that when you have four players, and the camera is desperately trying to keep all of you in view, and pokeballs are bouncing everywhere and exploding into random pokemon and some strawberry floater is throwing bikes around and gooseberry fool SMASH BALL that the game is not chaos.

Shepherding that chaos into victory despite random luck and watching for your chances with everything going on is exactly why the game is fun. Dialing all the randomness back is just... What's the point?

I've said it before, and i'll say it again. Balance is overrated.

With the people I've played Melee with throughout the 13 years I've been playing it, I find that there's always been a heirarchy of people who will win or do well irrespective of whether items are switched on or off, so I couldn't agree with the random luck bit. Skill usually shines though, as do good tactics in my case.

I've not been christened Sonic the Edgehog for no reason.

Introducing an element of randomness isn't necessarily the same thing as putting the entire outcome down to a random number. A random element doesn't negate player skill in this case: it just tests the players ability to quickly assess and deal with an outside element introduced into their fight.

It's why I can't fathom turning items off at all.

Ok so let's look at this from a competetive stand point. It's the grand finals of a tournament and the scores for sets are tied, final match. A person has done really well and is up 2 stock in a 4 stock match, when suddenly a starman spawns on top of the other player which gives the guy enough momentum to take 2 stocks back or if we're taking brawl into account someone gets Snake or Sonics final smash which lasts forever and is practically unavoidable.

Suddenly the person outplaying the other person has had their current progress completely made void by completely randomly generated items. A similar situation could be where it's even stocks and a maxim tomato spawns next to one player. There's nothing you can really do about it. There's a time and a place for playing with items, but it's not in tournaments.
