I will probably pick this up again soon as its getting so cheap for exactly that - a quick 30 minute burst if i don't have time for anything else or want a palette cleanser.
It's nice to see more folk experiencing OnRush; it has been one of my favourite games of this year and I found the gameplay to be addictive. Usually I play a game for fifteen minutes and then the "what's that's shiny thing over there? Goodbye game lol" effect kicks in... but with this, I really had that "one more go" feeling.
The different race types take time to get into and, at first, feel pretty random. But then you learn a bit more about the controls and the objectives and you realise the effect that you can have on the game. It's great!
I'm afraid I really didn't get on with this. I have been interested by it for a while but never pulled the trigger and actually bought it, so I was quite pleased when it came to Plus. Unfortunately, in the hand I just wasn't a fan. I really disliked everything about the game's styling - desperately trying to be hip and down with the kids, actually cringe inducing fair workshopped to within an inch of its life. The human avatars sum this up, self-consciously "wacky" but completely soulless. To play, the driving felt almost automated in how unengaging I found it. The game talks a lot of skill, of targeting other racers to take out, but in practise felt totally random. The various abilities of the different cars felt like they made no tangible difference. Every time I used the rush mode, all the surrounding racers seemed to speed up with me, so I couldn't hit anyone.
I'm happy others are enjoying it, but for me trying Onrush was one of the most straight up disappointing gaming experiences I've had for a while.

A fair criticism. I personally find the gameplay quite addictive, pretty much in the same way Jawa does, and I love the visual pyrotechnics - but, yeah, there's nothing much there beyond the rush and mayhem of every race. It's another of Codemasters' odd experiments (anyone still remember DiRT Showdown?). Still, it does look marvellous in action.
I’ve been playing this for a few hours recently. It’s actually kept my interest and RDR2 hasn’t got a look in. It’s not the best game ever, not even close, but it’s a fun blast. Mindless fun, easy to play.
Easy trophies too for those interested in that.
My kids will love if if they ever stop playing Fifa
I was playing it and quite enjoying it (got it on Plus) but last night the server wasn't recording my progress so I couldn't level up or have my won stars saved. I'll have another try tonight, but if that's not sorted asap I'll go onto other things.
