Anything to do with games at all.

I’d like to think the Switch stands a reasonable chance of getting the sequel at some point, ultimately it’ll come down to how well it sold, so let’s hope it was a success in that regard.

Done.

Dragged its feet towards the end there but a cracking game overall.

I could see a E32021 announcement. The Dev said they're looking for Will of the Wisps to be to Blind Forest what Super Mario Bros 3 was to the original Super Mario Bros. Also they've got another secret game in development.

E3 2021 sounds about right, gives it a year and a bit as a Windows/Xbox exclusive before releasing on the Switch. Wonder if this secret game is another Metroidvania or if they’re going into a different genre.

I have a question for the thread: is there anyone in here who wasn't reduced almost to tears by the opening section and still ended up loving the game?

I ask because I'm halfway to the Tree Of Impossibility (as y'all seem to refer to it as), so still relatively early days, but hasn't clicked for me yet. It's not bad, but doesn't seem to be particularly special in any area. I was moved by the opening, but at the same time the tree growling over it all lessened some of that. The movement's okay. I prefer Hollow Knight from a graphical perspective, which I understand is high blasphemy.

I just want to know whether I'm judging it too soon and will inevitably see the godlike game other people describe, or whether that ship sailed the moment I made a snarky post about the sodding tree.

Story is fine but didn’t evoke much of a response in me, I’m dead inside and was only half paying attention though.

It didn’t really click with me till about 4 hours in.

I definitely enjoyed it more as it went on. First couple of hours were the weakest for me.

I found the opening a little slow but enjoyed it nonetheless. Then some more of the abilities opened up and it really clicked with me and started elevating itself to greatness.

I really liked the story on the whole, was moved by it at a few points over the course of my playthrough but never to the point of full on crying. It definitely moves on nicely as well in my opinion, I also quite liked the way the tree told the story to the player but can see why it’s not to everyone’s taste.

Graphically wise it’s just as good as Hollow Knight in my opinion, just different?

Opening was too cliched emotional manipulation to hit too hard. Seen it all before. However, the movement through it was a nice touch.

As with all well-designed Metroidvanias, it started to click once the movement abilities opened up and you could attempt the impossible.

Perhaps unlike others, I frequently found myself questioning whether I was sequence breaking early in the game, because the platforming was so challenging. From the first escape sequence onwards, it plays in quite a linear way if you choose for it to.

Cheers all, sounds like most of you were actually in my boat about the stori (heh) and I need to give the game some more time. Good to know, I'll persevere!

The most subjective of subjective points, this one. I think my view is unlikely to be the norm.

For me, what I liked most about the story was more the setting than the actual plot-I absolutely loved the atmosphere to the Blind Forest and visually they nailed it.

Finished this yesterday on Xbox. Lovely game, although some of the timed sequence bits really frustrated me. Felt like the game was a perfect length at around 8 hours. And the music was some of the best.
