I beat this earlier in the week. Whatta game. Much better than the first one, but it borrows a lot from Hollow Knight, which is the greatest 2D game ever, so of course it is.

This is really clicking as I’m unlocking abilities

Taken the best bits from Ori and the Blind Forest and Hollow Knight and pretty much nailed it. So far I’m enjoying it just as much as the first one, might surpass it by the end.

I love how it builds on the original Ori and takes it in a slightly different direction. Both games have quite a different tone to me and I appreciate that a lot.

I prefer it to the first but it's close.

The combat in this one just feels amazing, but I also loved the simplicity of the combat in the first one though! The different areas in this one really pop, the graphics are just astounding, the HDR is really good too, in the woods the light reflecting off the moon was just amazing. I think these two games are definitely my favourite in the Metroidvania style games (which this seems to loosely fit into).

Can’t stop playing this

Just got the last wisp so I guess I’m not that far off the end of the main portion of the game sadly, plenty to go back and collect if I want though...... :D Definitely going to explore Midnight Burrows before I finish the main story anyway as I imagine that’ll be fun to explore, even if to just prolong my time with this.

Having got this in a recent-ish Switch sale for 75% off, and having not got on at all with Ori and the Blind Forest, I've just finished this. I enjoyed it a fair bit, and especially more than its predecessor: the increased combat focus over precision platforming (early doors at least) meant that the slippery feel for the MC wasn't so problematic, and I liked the NPCs and side quests and hub village and stuff. Thought the story was a bit better too, although that could just have been because everybody and their dog knew that Ori's mum died at the start of 1.

Did everybody else who loved the game enjoy the many and varied instadeath chase sequences? What about the final phase of the final boss? :dread: It was those bits that downgraded the game from 'great' to 'good' in my eyes.

EDIT: Rex knows.

Wasn't really sure where to put this but this is a designer at Moon Studios discussing their next game. He talks a lot about LTTP as an inspiration so its pretty clear its going to be their take on the top down Zelda format.

And this one isn't published by Microsoft so it should make its way to everything this time round.
