You should already have the launch codes and can use the lift by the campsite immediately after waking up. I think if you speak to the guy at the camp fire there should be new dialogue options as well. If you don't have the launch codes then something has gone wrong with your game file.

EDIT: Presumably you clicked 'Resume' on the main menu screen? You definitely shouldn't need to get the launch codes again if you did.

The guy at the start should say you need to get the launch codes, but you should still have them. You should be able to use the elevator regardless, if you started the game with "Resume Expedition".

There's no Resume Expedition option on the launch screen. I assume this means there's a problem with my game file then. No wonder I got frustrated with this last time I tried to play it if it's actually broken.

Hmm that is weird, if you died in the last loop and got the montage of memories then you should have a resume option. When you died did you wait until your character woke up again before turning it off? I'm not sure when it actually saves on death but it definitely should have created a file by the time you start another loop.

I would say if you do decide to give the game another chance you can just rush through to get the codes without talking to everyone or playing the mini games etc, it won't affect anything else in the game by not doing them on your first loop.

It’s likely that it doesn’t do the save until you wake up, if what you’re saying is that you Alt + F4’d it on the death screen. But I wouldn’t have thought that would be the case. (I’d have assumed activating the Statue creates your save file)

Yeah, I read elsewhere that the statue should create the save file too, and I did wait until I'd woken up again.

I just flew through the opening again on the Cloud version, got a bit of exploring done, and now I finally have the launch codes at the start, and the resume expedition option, so there's definitely something up with the game file on my PC, presumably it's the same file as the last time I had this installed via Gamepass, so that's why I was having the same issues last time. Might see if launching the PC version now will sync up my progress from the cloud version, or might just stick with playing via cloud to be safe.

Really can't stand the way Gamepass sticks all the relevant game files in some obscure read only directory. Makes things like opening up and modifying save files or .ini files a real pain in the arse. Might see if there's any guidance on that later, but honestly, the cloud version works, and the visual downgrade is hardly the worst in the world. Looking forward to actually being able to try this properly now.

Microsoft’s Store on PC has unfortunately been a nightmare for me too, whether through the Xbox app or even just games I actually bought. Corrupted installs just eating up hard drive space irreversibly until you reinstall Windows, downloads and patches unable to start until, again, you reinstall Windows. An absolute stain on their Gamepass offering there.

Thankfully, I haven’t had any of the same issues since upgrading to 11, but I’ve barely engaged with it as much.

I find PC gamepass games flakey too. Takes a while to sort. Ascent was bad, as was control. Forza horizon 5 had the issue with antivirus and halo infinite insists on opening the application twice and crashing.

Started this tonight and not really sure of what to make of it :?

Walked around, did some training, got launch codes, went and landed on a dual sun planet thing, went in a room and moved a ball, which made stuff move, went outside in my suit and lifted off only for the planet to move from under me so fast that I was just stranded in space until my fuel ran out and I fell in to a sun.

Sounds like an ideal first experience to me, honestly.

I'm still exploring Brittle Hollow. (First planet I visited after leaving Timber Hearth.) I feel like I've found a lot of stuff, like locations and items of interest on the surface, below the surface (!) and far, far away from Brittle Hollow (!!), but I suspect a few things are still eluding me which are mentioned in logs and chats. (Things I've done: activated and travelled via the cannon.)

Other things I've done: drowned on another planet, and got gobbled up in a seed.

FINALLY made some more progress on Brittle Hollow :toot: Wandered around the Hanging City and read lots of scrolls, activated the forge but had no way to return to surface from where I was and so that needs doing again. And then the best bit of luck: fell in the you know what but ended up FINALLY being able to explore the tower. But didn't have enough time there so that also needs exploring again.

I also figured out how to make use of the rumour screen and so realised Timber Hearth needed returning to, and I also now have targets to explore on Brittle Hollow when I get back on the game next.

It took me much longer than it should have to figure out how to explore the tower, but then it seems obvious when you realise (assuming you've already accidentally fallen in which I had done many times!)

I realised eventually when, after falling accidentally for the umpteenth time, I saw FRESH debris other than what's seemingly always there. (A space station wreck looking thing?) But knowing how it may work and getting the timing right / having gauges and HP in good condition is another thing :slol:

Made it to the temp dwelling on Brittle Hollow. Spotted the crystals up above and was just stupidly hyped at thought of walking there. Was speechless at the sights when I got there. (And no trip to Brittle Hollow would be complete without then accidentally falling in :slol:)

Not going to read this thread yet because spoilers, but I finally started this last night on PS5. Bought the standard edition as I want to play the base game before getting involved in any dlc.

My progress so far:

First loop I went to the moon and found (I think) everything there, then went back to Timber Hearth(?) and into the mines, where I coincidentally timed activating the scrying pool with the end of the loop so I confusedly thought it was the pool that killed me!

Second loop I returned and finished that mine and found the crashed dark bramble seed. Died in space so actually saw the supernova and realised that was the cause of death.

Third loop I explored the orbital probe cannon satellite, then met the guy on the surface of that gas/water planet and explored the ruins there. Need to go back for the other two islands (iirc there are four, I've been to two) but I know where I need to go to find out how to get past the current so will probably do that first before returning.

Fourth loop I tried sleeping through the whole thing at the campfire, but it woke me up at 21 minutes unfortunately! So I flew into space and died again.

It's very, very cool - just the whole simulated solar system aspect of it, and the way things are based on real physics gives it a really neat science fiction feeling.

Excited for everyone getting stuck into this! In my view it only gets better the further you get, and as you gain more confidence and understanding of the system's rules and laws and machinery. At first everything felt a bit overwhelming to me, in terms of the open-ness and breadth (and depth) of the solar system and the planets, but soon enough you start to see small links and half-rhymes of connection between things.

Trust in the process - everything does come into focus! Use your ship's Log/Rumour thing too... both modes - makes things more manageable.

That realization was just one of the many NFW (No Fricking Way!) moments I had playing this game. When I first flew to Giant's Deep I did a proper :o

I just finished this last night. Was amazing. Then got sucked into a rabbit hole reading about the ending, and in particular how quantum relates to the very end of the game. Now giving myself a little break before buying the DLC.

Also, if you have finished the game I thoroughly recommend the noclip documentary on it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbY0mBXKKT0

Games and Stuff.

If you can read this, you're too close.
