Had a rough and slow start to the DLC. My game was updated to the latest version, and I'd bought and downloaded the DLC, but for some reason it wasn't active. I had a couple of clues to go on that were added in the latest update to prepare for the DLC, but I couldn't make much progress with them since the DLC wasn't active. Was a bit confused that there weren't many hints to go on for how to continue.
Figured it out in the end and have started unraveling the new mysteries. Good stuff so far, though I'm a bit disappointed about the seeming lack of spaceflight. There's a bit at the start, and in getting to the new stuff every loop, but right now it seems like that's the extent of it.

I've played enough of the DLC now to know why they give that intesity warning at the start and a reduced frights option

Loving it so far though, I'm starting to get a vague idea of things that I need to do, still a lot to piece together though. And the music is top notch again.

Yep, this continues being quite good (understatement). Have just started dozing off with the artifact in front of the green fires. Took me longer than I care to admit to figure that out. I can see that whole thing being a bit of a chore to get to and redo if you get kicked out, especially the one that gets submerged when the dam breaks.
Love the idea of how the DLC is incorporated into the game.

I'm at the same point as you and have been exploring the dark world using the artefact this evening. I'm running out of leads at the moment and a little bit stumped as to where to go or what to do next.

Made some progress on this today. Discovered a couple of different ways into the Stranger (got a good laugh out of one of them), found two more artefact-types (one of which gets a bad reaction if you take it into a dream) and made some headway into how to start figuring out the vertical combination locks.

This is genuinely unsettling in places.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

This started to drag for me a bit in places as every clue I found seemed to just lead me to dead end after dead end. Thankfully it's all starting to come together again and things that seemed inconsequential before are starting to make sense within the big picture. The next few steps are going to be half fun exploration and searching for secrets, and half tense as strawberry float.

Okay, fun part's over. Everything left to do is now tense af. :dread:

Late-DLC spoilers:
Anyone figure out how to sneak around these owl bastards? I'm guessing I have to trick them somehow...

Yeah those bits can be a right pain. You can get some success by baiting them with your lantern, although it's worth keeping in mind that in some areas there may be ways to avoid them completely.

I might be just about ready to wrap this up.

Massive DLC spoilers! Beware!
I've met the prisoner. I had a theory that if you could open all three seals without dying (figuring out the code for the third seal is doable (it's only about 16000 combinations!), but I just looked it up) that the prisoner would still be alive in the real world (what with their prison being submerged underwater and thus protected from the ghost matter, and also maybe they're naturally long lived and the green fire keeps them alive?).

Turns out that's not the case, sadly. Not sure what that would add to the game, but when I realized that the prison had been underwater all this time I thought surely that was to explain the prisoner surviving. I was quite happy with that realization, then subsequently quite sad that it wasn't represented in-game.

All that's left now is to gather some more updates to the ship log from the main game to see how that changes what you share with the prisoner (I had a lot of it, but I was missing some key information), and then finish the game again having met both Solanum and the prisoner.

I'm excited for this but it'll have to wait until post-Metroid. Outer Wilds is definitely a Properly Sit Down And Give It Due Time thing. Love those mysteries that percolate in the brain.

Felt this needed sharing because it put a smile on my face. Spoilers for the main game.

Just started this. LOVING IT! I went to the moon and the thing happened and I woke up back at the start. Do I just get in the rocket and go somewhere else now? (I stopped playing after waking up.)

I was a bit worried when controlling the model the ship bc I was all over the place at first :slol: but even when I had decent control of it (landed really well a few times, and even intentionally shot it sky high when the geyser was firing) it was too easy to flip on one side and so have to then think about which thrusters needed firing. But the ship proper is a lot easier to control, and the jetpack controls felt easy to do even in the training mission.

Being in the cockpit had me HYPED. Felt so good. (Can't imagine how much more immersive it'd feel in VR!) And then landing on the nearby moon and how it was constantly going in a cycle of dark and light. And then finding the ruins and translating the ancient text... it's so freaking good!

Er, so, yeah... I'm assuming I should get in the ship asap this time and go elsewhere? I think there's a nameless moon near the planet I can lock onto...

Yeah, you start with the launch codes now so there's no need to go through the village again each time. You're free to explore whatever interests you now, there is a log in the ship which will track everything you find out even across cycles so you can see how your knowledge builds up and which areas have more for you to discover.

Ta for confirming. Definitely gonna see if that other body is one I can land on or just in the background or what.

Such a good game. Shame on me for not getting on it earlier.

I was so blown away by that opening section that I wanted to experience it for the first time again. Obviously that isn't possible, so I did the next best thing: invited a couple of friends over who're are also really into astronomy/astronautics and let them have a go on it :msgreen: Watching them go from Eh, this is fine to :o was hilarious.

I haven't really even gotten into the meat and potatoes of this and yet I already know it's gonna end up being an all time favourite just for that opening alone.

I made a start on the DLC before Christmas and even just simply working out how to access it was pure magic.

Am I doing something wrong? I went through all the opening stuff on the planet again, got the launch codes, had the bit with the statue, took off, flew about aimlessly for a bit trying to get the hang of ship controls, then ditched into the sun as apparently that's the only way to save progress, when you die. Got the little memories animation after death, so assumed it was saving progress, but when I start the game again now, I'm still being told to go and do the trek to the observatory to get the launch codes again. :|
