When did we get to a situation where butter is consider so expensive it must be excluded?

I never knew that thinking butter is a basic food makes me part of the Hoi polloi.

About 0.1p per sandwich is hardly going to turn the shareholders into Bill Gates :slol: .
I know business is all about profits but that's taking the strawberry floating piss I bet I could go into a shop and find 10 better ways to save money.

I imagine it adds up to a sizable difference with supermarket pre-made sandwiches, but yes I agree it's ridiculous

Where do people stand on margarine?

Acceptable butter substitute or unholy abomination that should have no place in this world?

Margarine is fine. Gets a bit much after the 5th spoonful.

May be bollocks that I'm miss-remembering, but I thought margarine in the traditional sense doesn't actually exist any more and hasn't down for a long time. People just call spreads margarine out of habbit.

When I was a kid and I saw the advert for Golden Churn saying there was a spoonful of butter in every tub I thought it must be a massive spoon to fill a tub like that.

It's virtually plastic. Avoid it.

I was listening to a conversation some colleagues were having about meat and the impacts on the environment. And then things took a dark turn…

“So it’s cows that are the problem?”
“Yeah, for one beefburger it causes something like 7KG of CO2”
“So stick to farming sheep then?”
“Yeah but you know what those lonely shepherds get up to….”
“True, I read a story recently about a guy in Jersey who got himself killed when he tried to strawberry float a cow”
“A cow? Why would you shag a cow? I would go with a calf”
“You would shag a baby?”
“A calf yeah, they are much smaller”
