The mechanical bull that was a star of the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony has been named by a public vote, and the winning name (out of 2,000 submitted) was, appropriately, Ozzy.

Ozzy Osbourne told BBC Breakfast he was "blown away" by the tribute.

This can be a general thread to talk about how great Ozzy is, or how awesome bulls are. If you don't like either, go elsewhere please. This is a celebration.

IMO, Ozzy's best solo track (of many that are excellent).

The bassline is hypnotic, and Zakk's solo is a killer.

Will the mechanical bull now have to bite the head off a mechanical bat in tribute? We can only hope.

That whole Paris show is online, and it's a strawberry floating masterpiece.

On a tangent, just because it's also fantastic.

I'd like to think they'd adorn it if he's ever able to gig again in the city.

Randy was such a talent. Tragic. Ozzy's been so lucky (or chosen very wisely) to haved worked with Iommi, Rhoads and Wilde.

^^^ Oh yes, that's an amazing video. Goosebumps all over at that isolated solo.

Not my thing, but my Mrs loves ozzy and says when she saw him at monsters of rock in the 90s, it was one of the best gigs she's been to.

This was the first ever mp3 I downloaded and whoever uploaded it had named it as Ozzy Osbourn and Lenny Kravitz - Purple Haze.

Read his book recently. On one hand, I respect him for experiencing as much as he could in his life. He has done some amazing things with it. Despite not being super talented at what he does, he made it work.

On the other hand, the whole business side of his music has been utterly ruthless and they shafted so many people in the process. It's hard for him not to be tainted by that. He's also done some pretty dodgy things in the past. Domestic abuse, theft etc.

He has reformed, but I'm still not sure people should be celebrating him. I love the early Sabbath albums, so I can at least enjoy those. I mean, Hand of Doom :datass:

I believe it's actually called the Australian Football League.

Hand of Doom is excellent, as are Electric Funeral, N.I.B and Into the Void.

Ozzy is underrated as an artist.

I have that signature set of pick-ups in the Les Paul in the video, which is completely appropriate seeing as a I play a mixture of jazz, rock and fusion.

Basically infinite gain.
