Pancake Day - Tues 16th February. Toss one off for me

Tuesday is Pancake Day, a day when the nation comes together to celebrate that most British of meals, a French crepe smothered in Canadian maple syrup.

So will you be tossing on Tuesday?

What do you have on yours?

Traditional lemon and sugar?

80s kid golden syrup?

90s kid marshmallows and Nutella?

60s kid nanny's homemade marmalade?

How many can you gobble down in one go? Do you mix toppings or go for 6 of the same?

What toppings have you tried that just didn't work?

Discuss, celebrate and reminisce of pancakes gone by.

Maple syrup?! Get the strawberry float out of here!

I like to give mine a quick beating then get it in there quick. Make sure it's firmed up enough to give it a quick toss and then lay it out ready for a nice thick glazing. Perfection :datass:

The strict pancakes only on pancake day rule is necessary to avoid having a heart attack within the year

Depending on what you are putting on them they aren't inherently that bad for you. A well made crepe with a sensible filling/topping is actually reasonably healthy!

You're not one of those bloody food Nazis who go on about how being within 50 feet of sugar is an instant and horrible death sentence are you?

"Oh, I couldn't possibly have anything but organic hand-picked lettuce and cucumber sandwiches on homemade sprouted whole grain brown bread. Eating more than 18.5 calories a month is pure gluttony :x "

This may be a smidge exaggerated.

I'm a bit odd in having a decent jam on my rolled up pancakes.

I once melted a bar of dairy milk (big bar) to put inside the pancakes then roll them. Half a pancake roll eaten and i was stuffed, claggy mouth sealing melted chocolate doesn't go down well in large doses.

Probably go old school lemon and sugar this year. Feels classy.

I'm not particularly fussed about pancakes and wouldn't mind if I missed pancake day.

However when I do eat them they're always savoury ones (no sugar, lemon juice or maple strawberry floating syrup goes anywhere near them), usually chilli in them, rolled up enchilada style.

On the contrary I think you are underestimating quite how many pancakes (and how much golden syrup) I will eat given free reign

Never bothered with it - too much effort for the end product, for me.

I’ll be having a few of course! Lemon and sugar the main topping, golden syrup on at least one, maybe two depending on how many I enjoy :)

My dad made a pancake lasagne once. I think you and that dish will have much to discuss. My sister detests pancakes but was happily knocking it back until my dad did the whole "guess the secret ingredient" thing on her.

Going to have it early evening and let my son join in the fun this year. Think he'll be a Nutella man personally. I'm into the chocolate and maple syrup too but always want a sugar and lemon one for tradition.

My wife's batter is delicious in both taste and texture, couldn't ask for more when I'm tossing.
