The BBC are running a story on that as well. It'll never happen. Far too many potential issues.

So rather than improve things for workers, just get robots and drones to do all the work.

It looks like the kind of thing a big site would do as an April Fools' Day gag.

I'd try to shoot them out of the sky, and I only have airguns. Imagine what yanks will do.

Answered.

The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them in parliament.

People will shoot at them, steal them and hack them, but it's still a strawberry floating cool idea that would more than anything else make me feel like I'm living in the future we should be living in.

I was thinking about other uses for them. Delivering bombs? Weapons? Drugs? :dread:

I agree.

Robots delivering parcels would be f*cking awesome no matter how many problems there were.

You mean, just like any other method of delivering parcels?

Don't know about the drones actually delivering stuff but I can imagine them collecting small items from storage and taking them to staff to pack and post.

Of course, but it's way less conspicuous to hide them in the lining of the boot of a car than to strap them to quad/octocopters and let everyone outside at the time know your illegal shipment of gooseberry fool has arrived.

To deter theft, I assume they could be equipped with anti-theft shock devices and alarms and trackers and gooseberry fool (or self-destruct stuff so it's a dead loss to the thief), and to avoid shooting down, well, they're pretty agile, so I'm sure they could automatically signal the emergency services and initiate a 'go away you're being shot at' protocol.
