A colourful mystery is afoot on Prism Island

A mystery is afoot on Prism Island – and only Paper Mario can solve it by restoring the island's vanishing colours with his new Paint Hammer and the powerful Battle Cards up his sleeve. These fresh layers of strategy, along with the hilarious action-adventure gameplay the series is known for, make this one of the most colourful Paper Mario action-adventure games ever.

  • A hilarious action-adventure game set on mysterious Prism Island
  • The Paint Hammer lets Mario restore the drained colour of Prism Island: colour in colourless spots to solve puzzles and search for clues, or revive Toads who have been drained of their colour!
  • New Battle Card system: cleverly use Battle Cards during puzzling battles to defeat enemies, summon objects with Things cards, and use Enemy cards to summon allies
  • The new cutout feature allows you to extract areas from environments to overcome obstacles whenever possible

Nintendo UK showed some new footage today at Hyper Japan and it looks great. The first things that jumps out is how fantastic it looks as everything is made from paper or car.d Things like coins and water are of designed that you can see that they're made out of corrugated cardboard.

Battles are fought with cards, like Sticker Star, but you can paint them to make them more powerful and even use coins to buy new ones. I don't know if Sticker Star had rhythm based inputs when attacking but that seems to be present here in Colour Splash.

Overall, it looks wonderful and I'm eager to pick it up when it launches later this year :toot:

It's great to see a thread for this! I liked the look of Colour Splash at E3 and I'm keen to see how it develops. We're under three months from launch!

With so much else out in October I'm not sure I'll get a chance to play this. I actually liked Sticker Star so am quite looking forward to it. Slightly disappointed at the lack of imagination on display, hopefully it has the same incredibly high standard of level design that SS had which is largely what got me through that game. Not sure why they're persisting with the cards mechanic as its so obviously inferior to the old TTYD style battles. They became a bit of a pain in the arse in SS and I tended to avoid enemy encounters she possible because it just became boring. Hopefully they'll also fix the ludicrous trial and error nature of boss battles.

You have a 3DS? Might as well play Sticker Star while you wait.

Perhaps you'd be more interested in the follow up to Colour Splash? Paper Mario: Fridge Magnets.

:o ... are you serious, Matt? You've hit upon a franchise that could work brilliantly well with your boldly-coloured magnets! This could be incredible!

Maybe one day. The characters would look great if I could get them cut out in the shapes like that to.

They would, dude, but I'd be inclined to stick to your current rectangular styling. The designs would still totally pop against a bold swathe of colour.

"As such, Mario will get all the credit." .

I really like how Nintendo USA has returned to the bold red background / white logo. I hope that Nintendo as a whole follows that path.
