I’m on the Shogun Studios bit now, i am getting into this a bit more now, i don’t even try to avoid the battles really as they are usually over so quickly it doesn’t really bother me.

I loved the bit when you found the masks

One of the big complaints that keeps rearing its head is they can't create original characters for the Mario universe. I get the issue and I get IS are restricted but I really do think they underuse what they have available. There are far more characters in the universe than they actually use. For example, i was disappointed in the 4th streamer to find the Origiami Creator was just a green toad. Why not use another Nintendo character? Professor E Gadd would fit. i get they are limited but i also don't think they're using everything they have available.

I struggle with that argument too (and likely don’t really understand it). They can’t edit existing Mario characters apparently but the Bob Omb and many of the toads have great characterisation.

They can’t make original characters either apparently, yet the Stationary also have unique personalities...

I’m not sure I understand the argument...

My understanding is they can give personalities to Mario characters they just can't change the design.

For example, they can't put a Toad in like this:

Any new characters they add have to be game specific and not introductions into the "Mario Universe". I suspect this is why the bosses are so stationary orientated.

I'm really quite enjoying this. The battle system isn't great but its quick and (as far as I've seen) there aren't random battles every 30 seconds. The writing is funny, its looks nice and the music is good. If it clocks in at less than 30 hours then it won't outstay its welcome either. If its an 80 hour game then that might be a bit different.

I've seen the main story pegged at 25-30 hours. Fits with my progress (half way through 4th streamer, played over 20 hours)

It is an 8/10 game, fair score

Finished it, clocking in around 30 hours. Very well paced game, commendable really how little padding there is in terms of progressuion. Enjoyed the finale a lot, was well done I thought even if there wasn't that much to the battles. Felt like they'd run out of ideas with the boss battles a bit, which is fair enough given how many there were. But I will say, while the battle system perhaps could have done with some extra depth, it didn't really outstay its welcome for me and they are avoidable a lot of the time anyway. But the 3 areas where this game excels the most-the enviromeents, the writing and the soundtrack are all outstanding and make it a really enjoyable experience.

Didn't even know that rag still existed. No danger this is an 8 on anyone's scale.

Got this as a birthday gift. It’s hilarious. Honestly don’t care about it being an RPG they could do the next one as a visual novel and I’d like it I’m here for the story.

I'm currently on the Yellow streamer and I'd have to agree, it's a very fun game. The standard battle system may not be the best but it's so short and doesn't happen too much that it isn't an issue. Boss battles are really quite good. It's writing is definitely up there with TTYD, it looks lovely and the soundtrack is really nice.

I’ve just beat the Purple Streamer and now in the spa area, do I have much further to go?

On the final leg, but what is left is probably the equivalent of another streamer

And done. Got to echo what Tomous said about the game, pacing is really good, it's constantly throwing new ideas and gameplay types at you but none of them hang around too long to get boring. The battles are super quick and cash is so plentiful that you can just get the toads to sort out the puzzles if they look tricky. Boss battles are probably the highlight of the game, they don't last too long but require some thinking. Story is really good, some quite emotional highlights along the way (Bobby  ). It's a definite recommendation for me, especially if you liked the previous games. Maybe not quite as good as TTYD but there's probably an element of rose tinted specs on that one. Solid 8/10 maybe verging towards a 9.

After what I've been going through lately I needed something lighthearted and whimsical to start getting back into gaming. I initially filled that void with emulating Thousand Year Door which I hadn't played in quite a while, and it was a wonderfully charming experience to go through it again. I'd always intended to pick up Origami King at some point, but with how I've been feeling lately and after thoroughly enjoying TTYD I bumped Origami King right to the top of the list.
I've not gotten too far yet, I only just opened up the Earth Temple thing but already I'm really loving this. I'm finding it just as charming and whimsical as TTYD really. I'm also really enjoying the battle system in this, it's a really nice little puzzler that then lets you pull off some nice simple moves.
