Been watching a few streams of this and my god it’s absolutely stunning. It’s so pretty to look at, the characters, the HD, the paper and 3D effect. I’m playing through Origami King at the moment and I’m just going through the motions because it’s so low effort it’s basically like doing a word search, the same level of engagement. I currently have about 35k coins and the most expensive thing I’ve seen in game is about 500.

Why have Nintendo sent this series so far down the gutter when it could be this. I really hope it sells gang busters.

Silly question, in some areas when you use your hammer in the overworld the ground lifts up a tad to reveal what looks like a hidden hole. Can you go down these and if so, how the hell do you do it  came across 3 instances of this and assume I can get down them somehow.

You get an upgrade to your boots that allows you to do ground pounds, that flips the tile through 360 and nets you an item from underneath.

on to chapter 3. got a blue yoshi this time. and for once didn't give him the embarrassingly bad name of yoshi jr. the inclusion for the exhibition matches was a nice touch. good for level grinding

Saw someone pointed out that (Chapter 1 boss spoiler):

When you’re about to beat Hooktail she offers you money or a rare badge, and when you turn them down she offers to let you sniff her feet.

When you beat Hooktail and find Koops’ dad he says the odour from Hooktail’s feet immobilised him as he was about to land the killing blow.

Koops’ dad took her up on it.

I was planning on playing this yesterday but I've only just got round to it. The nostalgia has hit me so hard already that I can't stop grinning, I've got such fond memories of this game. Graphics wise, it's even more gorgeous than I thought it would be on switch compared to the gamecube. I'll be burying so much time into this, making sure I don't miss a single thing!

One thing I’m sure has been changed is the animal if refers to about the first boss fight, sure it was a cricket in the GC version, but it’s a frog in the Switch version? Could be wrong as per normal though!

Odd little change really.

I got to the start of chapter 2 last night, spent best part of 45 mins doing trouble centre stuff.

This was a translation issue! The original GameCube Japanese release had hooktail scared of frogs. They changed it to crickets (without changing the noise!) for the western release as the Japanese frog noise sounded more like crickets to western ears and so might be confusing to us (as the game makes you figure out yourself that the Sound effects badge is what will make hooktail scared, and we would have been all "well that doesn't sound like frogs so it can't be that item").

Doesn’t the badge description tell you what noise it makes?

I didn’t look at the description to be honest

But I never knew that about the difference between the Japanese and western versions.

. Ah yes,it possibly does and I may be incorrect about the reason for the change, but the change was indeed made.
