Congratulations.

I'm currently in North Wales and I was going to do Conwy this morning but I decided against it as I'm on holiday and it would have taken a large portion of my morning up driving there and back and then getting showered.

Did my first ever ParkRun the weekend before last. The South Shields route is stunning, right on the cliff tops. Bit up and down, so a few gradients, but seems a good course. Anyway, I did 22:40 and came 20th/200 on the day. I want to get below 20mins.

Did my first parkrun today (Beckenham) and was good fun but quite foggy. A pretty congested start as it is a path but a mix of path and grass throughout.

Fingers crossed all the barcodes and everything worked! Will do that one again for sure but then may see how close others are.

I think my time was pretty much 25mins, so pretty inline with my current times, but plenty of room to improve!

Did Tooting Bec this morning, which was also very misty (misty day in South London), not the greatest Parkrun in the world, quite narrow, a far few people and one of the lines of the triangle is next to a road (obviously super lovely volunteers as always), knocked off the T in the challenge of doing a Parkrun beginning with every letter, but think I'll be leaving it to people who live nearby in the future.

I was briefly involved with Peel so it's good to see it finally get going. Going to try and get to it soon but I live a bit further away now.

Did Stretford this morning, it's always busy but even more so with tourists here for the Manchester half and marathon tomorrow.

Oh and forgot to say, the highlight for me was being overtaken by a bloke pushing his kid in a pram

Peel was on the website for ages, just before covid. I was wondering when it was going to get started. i went to 4th running of it last week. About 300 people there, close to salford crescent rail station, not sure if theres a tram. 2 laps, mainly concrete path, a bit of grass and some trail (mud). Twice past the Irwell ( high and low), nice park. no toilets though and The designated car park is a tricky turn off to spot. Im glad i did it so now im back upto all manchester (inside the M60) parkruns done.

Managed to run my first inaugural parkrun on the weekend. Got wind that WSM was having their very first parkrun so took a group of us down to give it a go. Very Flat and so long as there isn’t a wind you should get a good time!

Just me in this thread these days. Home parkrun today but was injured all over! Back pain, sciatica, foot pain and groin pain. Still managed a good finish on our new flat hill! (Flat as in it used to be muddy and bumpy). 13 parkruns left till my 100th

Last week was my 300th parkrun and i paced for 31min. I was 11s over, but alot of the other pacers were bang on. Looking at strava, it appears that they went fast then "walked" the final 200m, where as i was quite even all the way round. Ive paced before and im always even but a few seconds out.

I read that a parkrun was going to start in Holyrood soon - so that might be a good bit of tourism to get my Scottish parkrun.

Hard to pace, I have started pacing my running group, any hints?

Use a good GPS. I use free strava on my phone, but there are other (better) more accurate options. Do a trial run with the GPS to see how accurate it is. I know the parkrun i did shows up as 5.2km, so i know to "run fast" according to my watch.
Keep looking at your watch/gps.
I tend to get into a steady pace anyway - its perhaps better to do a slower than usual so you have the breath to talk and motivate people around you - i usually do 25min at a push, so the 31min is "easier".
Know where the 1km markers are on the route so you can keep tabs on your splits - do the maths before hand, maybe write them down on a piece of paper. I tend to try to keep track of the changing maths in my head whilst im running according to my time/pace/distance and adjust my pace accordingly.
Also The thing with pacing in parkrun is no one else really cares if youre not bang on - its mainly to give others encouragement / someone to chase / someone to push.

Got a course PB at my local parkrun today in 19:27 with my previous best being 20:25. (For reference my best 5k time is 19:15 so that we my 3rd fastest 5k ever)

Really pleased with this as my local course is not the fastest.

Bit of a fail, though. I was running toe to toe with a young lad and I was determined to beat him as I thought I was going to win. Only thing is when I finished I got given the 2nd place token :fp:

Turns out the course record holder had turned up and was almost 2 minutes 30 quicker and I never even saw them at the start. I thought that was my chance to win a parkrun :datass:

Well done poshrule, im jealous! My best time is 20:55 5k and parkrun 21:13. That sub 20 seems so far away.

Cheers mcjihge2

Thanks

I'm a big believer in anything is possible with running, if you put the work in then those goals will become reality.

The thing is no runner is ever happy with how fast they go, always want to push it further.

Took it slightly easier today and ran a 20:19. I felt comfortable which is a good sign of improving fitness as my speed had slipped but I have been building it back up to concentrate on 5k and 10k rather than distance like I was doing previously.
