Ive only ever marshalled and paced a few times. Everything else seems like too much responsibility. Good luck.

Is that mostly from HQ or is it just the arranging for the weekend ahead?

I'm trying to refrain from asking every 30 seconds if she is still going or not for the fear of putting her off.

Peel parkrun - probably the closest to manchester city centre. I havent done this one as its fairly new. To be honest the website looks like this hasnt even started yet. IIRC its near salford uni (/salford crescent train station) and goes through a fairly standard but nice park/ close to the river Irwell - but yeah it doesnt look like its on, so might be best to email them or avoid to avoid disappointment.
South Manchester parkrun. - In platt fields park about 3miles south of the city centre. 2ish laps. 15min on the bus. lots of buses go there. Flat and fast - also fairly standard park, lake view. can get busy, but is relatively wide so good passing opportunies.
Alexandra parkrun - (Moss side) about 3 miles from centre. I havent actually been to this one yet.
Heaton park - about 5 miles north of the city centre. 2 laps. I dont know anything about transport there. The start is also in the centre of the park, so once you get there its another 5/10min walk to the start. It is a bit hilly. lake view. afew nice buildings. But probably the most picturesque of the manchester parkruns. Also busy but wide start and generally good passing opportunities.
Fletcher moss - about 6 miles south. 2 laps. Bus 30min / train/tram to east didsbury(?) Fairly flat. not that picturesque even though its in the botanical gardens. generally narrow.
Burnage parkrun. Close to Fletcher moss, about 10min walk from east didsbury train station. 2laps. some nice views of the mersey river. does have a climb stairs section. Based around a rugby club. can get muddy. generally narrow, but relatively quiet.
Wythenshawe parkrun. about 7 miles south of the centre. not sure about transport there. there could be buses (30min?). 2 laps. nice park/stately home with a working farm. Wide start and some pasing opportunities. after Heaton park probably the next picturesque one.
Sale water park. about 7 miles from centre. IIRC the tram station is quite close. its out and back again run. some views of the mersey - but is a bit bobbly/craggy underfoot. less views of the water park and more of the surrounding trees. narrow but quiet.
Stretford parkrun. 2 laps. starts and finishes on a running track. through a fairly standard park. flat and fast. does get busy - pass early in the first 400m on the track. Good parkrun.
Worsley woods - about 7 miles west of the centre. Not sure about transport. On the site of an old train track (interesting), so its out and back and straight and flat (apart from the uphill through the forest turn at halfway. Can get busy and not much passing.
I would say, if you can get there, and get there early enough try heaton park.

Lol, I'm sure she will love it once she has done it.

The thing is if she does it I would rather she run walk run. She does lots of group classes but running is never done and she might hate it if she goes to crazy.
mcjihge2 wrote:Did Lands end parkrun on saturday. Out and back for 2miles then 3 laps between the first and last house in England and the Lands End sign. Tough up hill x3. I got under 26min which i was happy with given the uphill sections. The winner was a 13 yearold girl in 19 minutes. Pasty at end. Good parkrun.
Ecno wrote:Ended up doing Alexandra Park, super flat, think about 300 people in the end. 2 big laps and a couple of other bits.
As there were 3 of us we got an Uber as it was cheaper than public transport.
Off to do one in Paris next weekend.

I might try that one next week. did you notice what the parking was like around the park?

There is a chrome extension that uses this feature. Also I point you towards the 5K app which also has challenges
