I don't think so. The proroguing was ruled unlawful and so now technically didn't happen.

I'd imagine the thought "I should just quit and let Charles put up with this gooseberry fool" has gone through her mind a few times.

There has to be some old law in a dusty old book that says anyone caught lying to the Queen must be lead along the Mall naked on the back of a donkey all the way to Buckingham Palace, where Her Majesty awaits with a sword and a hot brand.

A gooseberry fool load of Brexiteers.

If Johnson is seen as lying to the Queen it could genuinely shift support away from him (admittedly to the Brexit Party :( )

While I don't think Boris will resign, it will create very memorable soundbites in the upcoming election: he is a criminal; he lied to the Queen to try to get his own way; he abused his post and didn't even have the decency to step down. It will be very good for all opposition parties, even (as Farage just showed) the Brexit Party (which splits the Tory vote).

There are also questions at the moment regarding money being paid and trips taken with a blonde lady that Boris was friendly with. If that is as bad as it looks, lying to the Queen may well be the least of Johnson's problems. :toot:

Yep, and this is a line that should play well.

It could also be spun the opposite way however - "Look how far Boris was prepared to go against the corrupt establishment to try and deliver what the people want! Our leader put himself in the firing line to give us what we want, we must support him!" etc.

Boris should go to the EU courts and see if he can get this turned over. ;)

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom broke the law to silence Parliament, he and Rees-Mogg lied to our Queen’s face to achieve that goal. Shame on you. Imagine what would have happened years ago!

A fantastic day for our democracy. If anyone wants to argue that the 11 top judges in the country all making a unanimous decision is wrong, there is no point in discussing anything.

Pretty much this. At this stage, anyone arguing the contrary is never going to be worth trying to talk around, they'll be too far gone.

There’s a leaver on another forum I read who is currently arguing that it would be unfair on the Conservatives if Parliament reopened now. His view is that the Lib Dems had their conference, Labour had their conference and so it wouldn’t be fair if the Tory one was delayed/cancelled.

I'd argue that 90% of the country doesn't give a gooseberry fool about the party conferences.

If you are a Tory royalist, Boris has to go. He broke the law and he lied to the Queen. If you are a brexiteer and you care about sovereignty, Boris has to go, he unlawfully shut down a sovereign parliament.

I'd like to see some Tory politicians have some strawberry floating principles for once and call this out for what it is. We all thought Boris getting the nod would be interesting to see how the head brexiteer could strawberry float it up. I'd argue we are now past that fun. He has to go.

Edit: Tories can have their conference, but it should be held behind closed doors like when a football team gets done for racism of their fans.
