I've deleted it from my computer

It looked nice, that's all I can really say, fun for ten mins. For a free to play action rpg, it's decent but I'm not sure I'm going to play it again.

New designed passive tree. It's fekking GIGANTIC!

I really have been enjoying this far more than Diablo III. Can't wait for the official "proper" launch in late August.

Buy a key.

I had a go on this but the depth is daunting at first. It's all a bit too much too soon as well; here have these gems... They level up... They have more than one effect, sometimes...

I kind of wish this wasn't free.

Open beta is on this weekend.

This goes full open beta on wednesday, this looks quite interesting. The passive trait system seems very reminiscent of FFX's sphere grid, and the freeform character building and weapon/skill customisation looks very fun. I predict that nobody else will give a gooseberry fool

I might give it a go, a few things about the closed beta annoyed me though. It was really hard to change or get new skills. Or gems or whatever they were.

It's pretty good, seems to be diablo 2.5 in a lot of ways. The economy is interesting, no currency at all - everything is done on bartering, even selling to merchants/vendors.

Sure does look good.

Looks a bit like Sui Generis graphically.

I've heard the combat in this is what Diablo 3's should have been.

Decided to give this another go - seems to have lots of features that would have made Diablo 3 much better:

Barter-based economy: No piling masses of cash for no reason, you buy and sell things with other things.

Open levelling system: Like FFX's Sphere Grid, way more options and flexibility for character customisation, plus the way active skills are slotted into your gear, and can be augmented/changed by slotting them together.

Leagues: This is the most interesting, the devs run events that range from a couple of hours to days, in which you create a new character and race to achieve a certain goal such as clearing a set of objectives, and doing so earns you points that you can spend on gear - with people who get their first getting the most points, but even taking part gets you something. Not really explained well, so here's the blurb from the site:
When you create a character in Path of Exile, you choose a league for that character to exist in. We expect and encourage most players to play in the default league, but other leagues exist for specific play styles or events.

Characters can only see and interact with other characters in the same league. In this way, each one is its own isolated economy. The default league is extremely large and hence acts as a general economy for all characters that were not created in a specialist league. All characters in a league have access to the same shared stash pages.

Competition
Each league has its own set of ladder rankings. We’ll be frequently creating short term leagues that last varying durations (a day, a weekend, a week, etc) with item rewards for the highest placed characters on the ladder at the end of the league. There are leagues that end once a specific goal has been met (a race to level 90, for example).

League competitions are another way for players to get rewarded for their play skill and to be competitive with other players as an alternative to PvP.

Completion
There are a few permanent long term leagues including the default “standard” and “hardcore” leagues. All other leagues have a duration value and a parent league. When the duration is over, all characters in that league become part of the parent league.

Whenever any league ends, its characters are all converted back to its parent league. This way, no one loses the character they were leveling (it just ends up in a less restricted economy/ladder than the one it was initially being played in).

Game Modes
Leagues are able to apply a different set of game rules to their players. For example, increased monster difficulty, world PvP, permadeath or various "Ironman" rules.

We have many plans for interesting game modifiers that leagues can apply, but one rule is clear – they must only make the game harder. Because characters transfer back to the parent league when a league ends, it is important that the character’s journey to its current status was equivalent or more difficult than gameplay in the parent league.

Hardcore mode: Like D3, however if you die your character simply goes back to the default league of normal mode, meaning that you don't lose all the time/effort if you die, it simply knocks you out of the elitist cool club back into povvo-land.

Potions: Rather than hording loads, you get these flasks that hold a certain number of charges, that regen when you kill stuff, so you can pop lots in one go if needed, but you'll need to fight lots to get them back.

Yes, even though it's F2P, the devs have emphatically said over and over that there is no pay-to-win, and they're right - the only stuff you can buy is crap like dance emotes, minipets, visual weapon and armour effects/alternate spell animations, and stuff like more character slots, you can't even buy the staple XP boosters etc.

It's free to play, isn't it? Seeing it launched with a £16 starter pack makes me nervous that it's overly geared towards paying.

I've gone through the game several times with different classes and have yet to spend any cash. It seems to be cosmetics and QoL stuff like increasing your item stash or guild size.
