How can anyone defend that gooseberry fool?
Just for starters, it's a Trek show not set in space.
The story is supposed to be about Q and I'm in it almost as much as he is.

It's about as Star Treky as Doobie Ducks Disco Bus.

Here you go, here's somebody giving it a 10,

I'm giving this ep a 10. It was great. There was good action and some good character moments. Things are really coming together. We got the resolution to Picard's mother. Yep, she took her own life as many here suspected and Picard blames himself because he let her out of the room. Tallin gave Picard a very nice speech about love being a gift. On the other front, we got to see the origins of the Borg we see in ep 1. Jurati-Borg will form a new Borg not based on forceful assimilation but on voluntary cooperation. I like what Jurati told the Queen: when the Borg assimilate by force, they always make enemies, species who will try to resist and eventually the Borg always lose. So why not adapt and try something new, forming a "collective" that is not coercive? Makes a lot of sense to me. So the Borg in ep 1 are that cooperative who come through the space anomaly wanting Picard's help.

And now on the finale.... Soong is the villain. He will try to stop the Europa mission. Our crew must stop him and restore the timeline. It will be interesting to see what it means "two renee's, one must die". I suspect it has something to do with the fact that both timelines must exist, one where Renee dies and becomes the confederation timeline and one where renee lives that becomes the federation timeline. You need both timelines for consistency since Picard and crew timetravelled from the confederation timeline.

The show seems to be setting up where "our" Borg were decimated after the events of Voyager but we will get a new Borg going forward, from an alt timeline, who will be more of a cooperative and eventually become friends with the Federation.

Also nice Voyager reference that Seven tried to join Starfleet but was rejected because of her Borg connection and Janeway even threatened to resign to try to get her in to Starfleet. But it failed and that is why Seven joined the Rangers. So we got the backstory on that.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

There's only so much someone can be the 'ultimate bad guy' before the amount of times they've lost somewhat diminishes that. I'm sure people said that about the Klingons too back in the day.

Ive been wondering all season where the hell is
Picards brother did the Picards just send him off to wine college or something and his mum not try and bond with him and just favour jean-luc

Also starfleets not happy to have 7 as she was an ex Borg but are more than happy to have janeway as an admiral who was a former Borg although in their weird vr holiday camp and picard :fp:

why on earth wouldnt starfleet want a woman who is basically the automatic authority on the starfleets most dangerous enemy

Also why on earth was the hologram Elnor scared of bullets he’s a god dam hologram the bullets just go through him, well that’s what happens to the doctor in futures end

Yeah the line from Seven makes no sense really given Icheb. Picard and Janeway there's at least the excuse that they were only assimilated for a few days (and Janeway never even became part of the collective) and they were already Starfleet captains to begin with, but Seven had more than proven herself worthwhile for a fast track Starfleet commission (Hell they gave Kira one despite being basically totally unqualified from a scientific perspective).

I've also been wondering about Picard's brother. TNG establishes that they weren't close and had never gotten along well, but it's weird for him to not even be mentioned in any kind of flashbacks.

The Elnor hologram stuff, I did notice that he was using a mobile emitter, not the ships integrated holographic projectors, so he may have been just worried about the emitter being targeted and damaged, knocking him offline and potentially letting the Queen get it and extract the codes

Better final episode this week, but still not good.

I can't even be bothered to really tear it apart. Q was much better this week at least.

I love that we can't have proper Borg anymore, but we do get strawberry floating Wesley Crusher.

Arguably the worst season of Star Trek I've ever endured and it started off so well. That first episode was fantastic, then it just shat the bed, week after week.

I'll spite watch the last season to see the rest of the cast back, but I'm really disappointed with this show.

In better news, Strange New Worlds started today in the US and it was a decent beginning, so all my live-action Trek hopes are pinned on that for the next 10 weeks.

So there’s now a Borg faction that are federation friendly and want to join, seeing as starfleet wouldn’t let 7 join starfleet…… Also was this like a secret Borg faction hiding somewhere in the delta quadrant or where they always there if so how the heck did best of both worlds picard not speak to jurati

They sure solved the galactic killing event quicker than discovery does

The only bit I liked was Q's speech although I'm a bit in two minds because I don't really like the way they've changed his character. The rest was just boring sci fi with huge pot holes.

I thought that was phenomenal! Really liked the twist with the Borg and Q. Love it!
Roll on Season 3 which is apparently the season finale also and will be fully set in space.

Finished the final 3 episodes of this over the last couple of days, strawberry float me what a mess!

It's such a poorly put together show in so many ways - crap effects, wonky dialogue, plots that don't track logically, characters that have confused or often invisible motivations for their actions, a complete inability to understand or even know about aspects of the series past... I could go on pretty much forever!

This series had so much promise but they've really pissed it up the wall.

All that said, I don't actually hate the way they have left the state of the universe at the end of this, I think there's potential to do something interesting there, I just absolutely detest the way they have got to this point and have zero confidence that they will do anything good next.

Oh and, strawberry float off Wesley!

Yep, that was strawberry floating rubbish.
This series manages to make the writing for Nelix look like strawberry floating Shakespear.

The whole Q involvement was a steaming pile horseshit.
I never thought I'd say this but this Trek series should be cancelled and I don't care if its already been filmed. Just chuck it in the strawberry floating bin and try and pretend it never happened :x .
