Didn't Wesley show up in Season 2 and he's some kind of weird time travelling policeman or some gooseberry fool? I wonder if he'll turn up in the finale to help out given this is only happening as Q strawberry floated with the timeline

This would have happened regardless of Q's actions in Season 2. Jack had been linked to the Borg since birth, way before the stuff with Q, and this plan had absolutely been in the works for years.

Jack was born before 2024? ;)

I wonder if they can manage to shoehorn in Nelix as a super bad guy somehow.

We didn't see the face of the enemy so it could be him :shifty: .

Definitely a sustained dip from the heights of the first few episodes, but this is still very enjoyable fan service!

Feels like they've left themselves with a hell of a lot to do in the final episode though, given how slowly things progressed in the last few it feels like they could have tweaked the pacing of the season better, but I suspect they had various pressures which made compressing a lot into the end necessary (casting schedules etc. not to mention the fact that I suspect it took a gooseberry fool load of work to rebuild the bridge of the Enterprise D as well! Wonder if we'll see anything else like Engineering or the conference room?!

Probably the best ending we were going to get given the set up. Still not good/great (and to be honest you'll almost be able to guess the major plot beats, there's very little that's a surprise here), but lightyears beyond s1/s2

They really are going with everything just went back to normal after all the death and destruction. Presumably most of the people over 25 have been killed, and most of the people under 25 will need serious counselling about murdering all their senior officers. But's it's ok Seven hugged Sydney and everything's fine now.

If they love the D so much, they should treat it as the state ship it was - not a bloody X-wing or Millennium Falcon.

So they were setting up Legacy all along, but without the fan favourite character of the season...but Raffi's here! Yey.

Q! So they really are just ignoring everything from Season 2!

There's not really much to add to what Hexx said. It's a shame they weren't a lot braver at the end, they should have had some big name deaths but overall it was alright.

You really don't need deaths for something to be good. Let something have a positive ending for a change.

I didn't say you need deaths to be good. But it was really predictable and obvious all the way through that they'd all get out of it.

I forgot to mention before but I absolutely adored that finale. Really good ending to honestly a series that I didn't think was going to get one. Pretty much perfect sendoff for all the characters involved.

I thought the last episode was a lot of fun. This season took a little bit of a dive between the halfway point and the last ep but it kind of pulled back up at the end for me personally.

At the risk of being incredibly basic, I didn't really want any surprises or exploration of realistic consequences -- much like Qikz I just wanted them to send off the characters in a respectful way and they did that.

I strongly agree with Hexx that Legacy will really suffer from having Raffi on the bridge instead of Shaw. Season 3 Raffi is way better than the melodramatic worm-woman she was in the first two seasons but she's still pretty annoying. She could work at tactical but I think she's going to be unbearable as first officer.

However, I am cautiously optimistic about the line-up of Jack, Seven, and Sidney with a possible recurring role for Tuvok. I think there's the core of a likeable cast there.

Oh, and if Q is back properly, as a kind of TNG-style omnipotent, self-important poltergeist, instead of fedora-wearing misogynist Q from Voyager and/or whatever was going on with him in Picard season 2 then that's great too.

3x10- Yeah nothing surprising but it was a satisfying finale and that's the most important thing for the last episode of a series.

Apparently the showrunner has already come up with a way for Shaw to be in the spin-off show if it gets green-lit.

I loved every minute of that. The whole season has been a delight from start to finish. Not perfect, but I absolutely adored it.

Cameos first....

Walter Koenig turning up to voice his Son was great, as was naming him Anton.
Glad to see Tim Russ back again after his previous episode. I'd kind of hoped we'd see Janeway as she was name dropped a few times early on in the season, but she's getting enough attention over on Prodigy.
Was nice to see Alice Krige back to voice the Queen again. There's something in her delivery, especially for this character, that I just love. There's such menace hidden behind everything she says. Loved the make-up and effects stuff they did with the stunt-performer who played her.

In fact I loved the whole Borg Cube sequence. The "goodbye" scene between Picard, Riker and Worf was great.
I knew they would end up fighting a couple of drones, but I wanted that really decomposed Skeleton one to come alive.

The scenes on the Enterprise were so well done as well. All those shots on the bridge appear to use the same camera positions and angles as the original show, which I thought was a fantastic touch. The effects shots of the ship outside the cube were also really reminicent of the work they would have done back then if they had this tech. Loved it.

It may have been a little bit predictable in how the resolution turned out, but I don't care. It was executed wonderfully.
My only real issue was how easily Jack and Picard were able to shrug off the assimilation. It would have been nice to see them have some left-over implants or something, which they can then remove in the one-year time jump. Instead it was family and will-power and sheer determination. :fp:

Small thing, but I can't believe they destroyed Space Dock! That's been a Trek staple since Wrath of Khan! :D
Somehow they rebuilt it in less than a year! :fp:

The organic Borg thing I'm still not 100% sold on, but I figured out the Transporter stuff weeks ago. The only difference was I thought it was swapping people for changelings, instead of "stealth-assimilating" the people it worked on.

The prospect of "Horny Borg" was a little bit concerning though. Like once they wiped everyone not part of the Collective was it just gonna become a "Borgy"? :slol:

Then the epilogue stuff was mostly fantastic as well.

I'm not a huge fan of more Raffi, but given that she's the only original character from the earlier seasons of this show to survive (Other than Picard himself) I'm not surprised.
Seven really grew on me this season and for the first time I am all in on a Captain Seven show.
Loved the re-naming of the Titan to the Enterprise G.

Holy gooseberry fool they're going to "2 Doctors" this and cross over with SNW, like Lower Decks does aren't they?

The poker scene was a lovely way to end it as well. All Good Things was so much better than the way Nemesis left things. Nemesis should have been the triumphant farewell for this crew, but instead they send them off on a massive downer. This is how it should have ended.

So yeah Picard went from the worst season of Star Trek to what might possibly be one of my favourites. I've got whiplash from the change in quality and I'm putting it all entirely on Terry Matalas being able to turn it around, mostly by disregarding season 2 entirely.

Oh and strawberry float Jack getting a bridge seat though.
That nepo-baby should be scrubbing space toilets and cleaning out Holo-Deck biofilters. Gotta do the work or no-one will respect him.

Image

EDIT: Q! How did I forget him. Wonderful return from him and looks like there may be more in his future. I just hope Legacy, or whatever they call it does something different from SNW. I don't think 2 shows doing the same type of episodes is a great idea. I imagine Legacy will remain story-Arc focused, while SNW does the "planet of the week" stuff.

EDIT EDIT: This whole season just felt like a big warm TNG hug. Especially towards the end and it really worked for me. I was actually giggling whenever the Enterprise was doing it's thing. I just strawberry floating loved it. It may be my favourite Trek season.

Yeah a solid, nostalgia filled end to a series that really turned things around after a shaky start and even shakier season 2.

Interesting read here about how according to IMDB data the uptick from S2 to S3 is the biggest improvement in any multi-season scripted show ever, which seems plausible given just how bad that second season was!

Terry said that legacy isn't happening, at least any time soon anyways but yeah I can't wait to see it if it does happen.

Quite enjoyed it. I kind of wonder how it would go down with non Trek fans though. They seemed to bail on the plot half way through the episode for an extended epilogue and what amounts to a trailer for another show that may never actually get made.

They managed to do a show where most of the plot threads had a point and it was well written.
