Getting back to the issue of the Riker manoeuvre I always thought it was like Rikers instant win move for wooing the ladies.

How could any woman resist such a sexual power move it's just screams "Look at how dominant I am over this chair, now just imagine how great I am in the sack!". Irresistible.

Borg are still somewhat a threat then. That's good to see.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

My reading of the trailer was that the Borg are likely the main antagonists (the line "She's the destroyer" cut to a Borg cube under repair).

It's less the Borg and more the Romulan experiments with Borg tech.
They seem to be leaning into the Countdown comics that set up the 2009 movie, in which the Romulans had been hoarding and experimenting with Borg tech even well before Romulus was destroyed. The Narada was outfitted with Borg technology which is why it was so huge and advanced for a mining ship.

If it is The Borg I really, really hope they use them super sparingly as the whole point of them is that they're the unbeatable bad guys who only appear 2 or 3 times in a 7 season run and just cause maximum terror and havoc and everyone gooseberry fool's themselves constantly at the mere mention of them.

They are not a main villain type enemy. They are kind of like an evil Q in that if you overuse them they just become gooseberry fool.

Ok interesting. I wonder then if this girl is somehow going to set off the super nova that destroys Romulus?

Given that this is set over a decade after the Supernova occurred I doubt it.

Maybe she's a rogue Q, and the continuum are after her?

I thought it was set the year before?

EDIT: Nope, apparently that was speculation from before the trailer based on some SDCC exhibits.

The Supernova was in 2387, Picard is set in 2399.

This is really interesting.

I forget her name, the woman that goes off with Q? Maybe something to do with her?

The Lady Picard had a fling with and got some kind of idol from the planet Riser or something like that.

She's certainly a possibility as an artefact collector and historian.

Looks great. Was that the planet from generations Shown for a few seconds?

On that subject, fingers crossed it's not just a constant stream of throwbacks and nostalgia bait.

Vash? Maybe she and the continuum managed to have a child, and this woman is that child. Or maybe it is in fact Vash, who has had her appearance changed via the continuum.

Hopefully not and it will stand on it's own.

That would indeed be a massive disappointment.
Yes, by all means have old characters and maybe a few cameo's but it should be new stories just with a classic TNG vibe and overall look.

Yep, her character was decent and could easily be moved forward in time by Q or just a child of her's who Picard befriends because of his friendship with Vash. It would need minimal explanation and at most a quick overview of the events in TNG for new viewers.

Didn't Q go off with another Q and they're all called Q?

Are we talking about the Voyager "Q wants a kid" storyline?
