[RESOLVED] PC gaming query: How to buy Overwatch GOTY Edition

Hey, I'm way, way out of the loop on PC gaming, but...

I haven't got much of a clue about Overwatch... he has been playing the PS4 version but wants to play on his laptop PC. He enjoys the game but he had some hassle from other players when he used his headset; I tried to tell him to only activate voice functions if he's playing with people he knows. Online gaming with randoms and voice = "Don't do it!"

One thing to keep in mind, his progress/unlocks from the PS4 version cannot be carried over to the PC version, so make sure he knows he'll be starting from scratch.

Thanks dude - yeah, he'll be starting fresh. Tbh I tried to persuade him to stick with the PS4 version but he has some pals who play it on PC.

One of the main issues is that even if he's not in voice chat, people will very likely still be arseholes in the text chat on PC. Let him know Ctrl+Shift+C will disable the chat if he's being hassled, I think there is also a profanity filter you might want to enable.

I think the RIP was more about playing on a laptop jawa. Also thanks sugardave, i was wondering how to do that so i might actually play overwatch again.

Yeah, I checked his laptop PC this morning and whilst the processor is okay (Intel i5) the graphics card is only *just* adequate for it - it's an Intel HD 640. Not fantastic but it'll run the game at low settings. We're gonna give it a go - I'm just gonna get the download code via CD Keys and then he can download it on his birthday.

I ran Overwatch on low at 50-60fps on a 3 year old laptop my parents bought to do taxes.
Also, unless you're in a party just mute voice chat. It's 99% toxic.

Yeah, the memory and processor seem okay but I think the (in-built) graphics are very basic. Should be okay for low settings, though.

Yup. I dipped a toe back in recently and one guy on my first team of randoms constantly assailed the whole team with x-rated insults as we did not meet his apparently high standards.
(I got 3 golds and a silver that match)

Ever since competitive was added the Overwatch community has become such a salty cesspit. You can't even escape the shite in the Arcade modes.
I hope your nephew enjoys the PC version, Jawa. Get past all the wankers and there is a decent time to be had with the game.

Played this all evening for the first time in a while and I actually had a good time. No-one calling me a noob or a cheater, no ten year olds arguing over who gets Hanzo, no jokers playing Bastion on Attack.
It was good!
