They're obviously a PC games news site and should therefore report PC gaming news, but a lot of recent posts have been about the release of obscure, free-to-play looking games that are seemingly just Steam fodder. I didn't really think much of it after the first few, but it seems to be a daily occurrence now.

Tres conspiratorial, but I wonder if they now have daily post targets after the company that bought them out got bought out by a bigger company and now all games media comes from that company which is a company that needs to attract as many users as possible and make lots of money?

Or, with a cash injection from their overlords they're able to pay for more articles to be created which means they're able to look into a greater amount of games and give a wider audience to the kind of people who really need the exposure.

Could look at it either way, really, unless you feels there's a good chance all the games you linked to are utter arse.

Also, that last one is an xcom clone. Of course RPS are going to get a semi over it.

Battle for Wesnoth is a venerable open source game, I wouldn't lump it in with steam fodder.

See, I also wondered if it was just me being behind on my knowledge of indie games. Looks like that did indeed factor in.

Yeah most of those have a fair following Battlerite especially. I purchased Tales of Maj’Eyal a while back, due to it being really positively recommended. Didn't get into it though
