VATS should have made the game playable for me, and it almost did, unfortunately my mouse skills are somewhat limited these days and I kept inadvertently aiming at the floor or sky while trying to turn round to target enemies behind me.

Have you ever tried the original Fallout 1 and 2? They're not really up to much graphically these days, but all movement and combat is turn based so might be a bit more accessible control wise.

Only if Ironhide is cool with being one hit killed by a rat in the very first encounter..

 I have played it (briefly) and that did actually happen.

That's not why I stopped playing it though, the 640x480 resolution made the in game text unreadable when played in a window, which I need to do to use my onscreen keyboard.

I think there's a High Resolution mod available for it.

If you own Bioshock or Bioshock 2, you can get a free remastered edition on Steam...

https://www.redflagdeals.com/deal/video ... nal-games/

It says you can get the Steam edition even if you bought the physical copy, but you need to contact 2k support for that.

I loved Falout 3 but then it was the first Bethesda game I played so rose tinted glasses are firmly in place.

Are Games Workshop just giving away the 40K License now or something?
There seems to be a new 40K game coming out on Steam and the Play Store every week now.

Yes, and in a way which seems to be working:

How's Vermintide 1 compared to 2? The original and some DLC are in that bundle, so I've got that already, but if the 2nd makes the first a bit obsolete, I might grab it while it's reduced.

VT1 is fine but a bit basic. Theres no point in playing it really while VT2 exists unless you just want to have it there for completionist sakes. In VT1, theres literally only a couple of maps that people play over and over (the shortest maps) so they can just go for the loot drop as fast as possible. VT2 has much bigger maps, and gives you an incentive to play a random map (better loot if you choose random play, as opposed to picking a map) so it stops people from jsut running the same shortest map over and over, it has more varied objectives for maps, more boss enemy types (4 bosses for VT2, 1 boss for VT1), more standard enemy types, better class choices and perks, really theres no real reason youd choose 1 over 2 IMO

Thought that might be the case. I'll probably grab V2, as I think £11.50 is about the cheapest I've seen it. Wonder how it will run, though. :dread:

Whats your rig? I have a 970 & i7 4770k and it runs fine. 60fps @ 1080p with a mix of ultra/high settings

I'm still running on an 7 year old build with a 560Ti and an i5 2600K.

I can still run most stuff well enough, but youtube videos for V2 look hectic, and with a ton of particle effects.

So I was feeling pretty chuffed that I could still get 1080p60fps on low settings when I ran the benchmarks. I even made it through the prologue, but now it just hard crashes to desktop when it's trying to load the next bit.

Time for an upgrade, but god damn, prices are so high, still. :(

Speaking of, I've been looking around, and the i5-2500k doesn't look like the bottleneck I was worried it might be, and I've spotted an rx 580 8gb on ebuyer for £200, so I'll go for that and see how it fares, with a view to getting a new CPU/mobo in the nearish future.
