Some freebies on Steam right now;

Chivalry is free to all (though I am sure most have it) to celebrate their next game Mirage: Arcane Warfare starting its beta. So make sure to add it whilst it is free

Also later today Street Fighter 5, has a week long open Beta of its new online system with all 24 characters available to play.

Sega originally launched an 8-bit Bayonetta on Steam as an April Fools (The same game you can get on Platinum's webpage), but it appears that Bayonetta 1 is possibly getting an actual PC release as well.

Release looks to be in 10 days time,

The link was located in one of the achievements from the 8-bit game.

Could be a double bluff April Fools, but man the internet rage will be real if Sega pull a...well...Sega on this one.

So I was reading this article today on RPS about this cool looking open-world fps called The Signal from Tölva from creator Jim Rossignol. The game appears to have an art style that's similar to dishonoured or borderlands minus the cel shading outlines with a cool ambient soundtrack. Ian McQue one of the the concept artists who worked on this was also a former assistant art director at Rockstar Games. Looks pretty fun and has that halo, mass effect sci-fi vibe. Combat looks ok and I like the look of the world/exploration. It's out April 10th.

Thought I'd bring it to your attention as it wasn't showing on anyone's steam want list. Worth a look at least.

Now that the Wii U is effectively dead......Bayo 2 PC port maybe on the cards? I would buy both games.

Bayonetta 1 for sure, 2 unlikely. Nintendo basically funded that games development so I very much doubt it'll get anything beyond a port to Switch at some point.

Has anyone got the Win10 gaming update and if so, any noticeable performance improvements?

Yes?

I've been in the preview builds and gaming mode made zero difference. Think I'd even seen a benchmark on some site and it was the same for them, might have been slightly worse performance wise (like 1-2 fps lower than with it off)

Though the new Nvidia driver is giving me a smooth 1060/60fps on Gears 4 with the Ultra preset in both single player and multi :datass:

I've been thinking about building a PC for years, I've changed my mind several times, but now I've come to the conclusion that a desktop just won't suit me. My laptop was reasonably powerful a couple of years ago, but it really can't handle anything new, even on the lowest settings it struggles. I'm in the market for a new laptop that will be able to play modern games at reasonable (medium to high) settings. Would anyone have any recommendations?

Why would a desktop not suit? Not trying to be confrontational, I just think gaming laptops are a terrible investment.

My advice to someone who would ask for a laptop recommendation because a desktop doesn't work for them is almost always "find a way to make a desktop work".

Laptops are a waste of money. After probably around 3 years you'll need to replace it again.

Get a desktop.

I have a desk top (an ancient one) now in my tiny office which doubles as a wardrobe, it's just not a nice place to be. And even if I was to sit in there to play games, my girl friend isn't keen, she'd rather I play games in the sitting room. I know one gets a lot more bang for their buck from a desktop, but laptops have some advantages......

Laptops are gooseberry fool for gaming unless you are prepared to spend about £1,500.

Yes?

I'd still recommend looking at either:

- putting a desktop in your sitting room, hooked up to the TV
- putting a desktop in your study, but playing the games on your TV with a Steam Link or Android TV

It's not just the power/price ratio that pushes me towards desktop, but the ergonomics, acoustics and future upgrade potential. I haven't bought a new PC in over a decade, and probably won't ever again, but my setup eats modern games for breakfast.

As much as I hate to admit it, you're probably all right :( Is it possible to fit a decent spec into a relatively small package these days? A lot of towers are rather large...

I have a Steam Link and it is great, just as long as you have it and your PC connected via Ethernet.

With a closed loop water block on the CPU and a blower cooler on your GPU, you can get away with minimal airflow, and have a bleeding-edge machine in a case about the size of 2 PS4s.

I don't think I need bleeding edge..... What sort of coin am I looking at for something decent? I actually have a fairly good graphics card already, it's just the rest of my desk top is well past it.
