You can decline the new agreement in the EU because of the laws there, the info in that pic only applies to the US. And yeah, Microsoft and Sony made similar changes to their TOS recently. It's not their fault, more the American legal system.

Really shitty that the can deny you access to your library if you decline, though. That ain't right.

I don't see that Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo do this, do even EA do that?

No, there was nothing in the Sony or Microsoft changes that mentioned disabling your games, you just lost access to the system's online capabilities. Although it's worrying that they have the power to do this it's not like it's gonna affect anyone unless you were planning on suing Valve for some reason. I guess it's true that we never actually own our digital games, we just borrow them.

I'd just pirate everything off my account if I lost it.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I played the demo. Seemed a lot like Demon's Souls but more approachable.

Also, Steam is saying I've played POP The Forgotten Sands for 27 hours when it's more like 4. WTF?

Civ isn't even that great. It is fun to have an all day playthrough, but after that it is quite boring. I have no idea how you guys manage to let it take over your lives. You must be hardcore.

Just finished my second game. I upped the difficulty a bit and it was a bit more enjoyable with a bit more challenge, but I can imagine this being a game that I tell to go strawberry float itself on higher difficulties.

I was a bit of a prick, because Liz had been a total bitch to me all game, and so when another science victory (I wasn't even trying to go for one, they just seem to be the easiest by some margin, as all the other victories appear to need to be well planned in advance whereas I always find myself heading into the endgame and 80% ish towards being able to pull off an easy science and somewhere in the middle for all the others), was about 15 moves away, I decided to start nuking London as a goodbye present. This, it turns out, was a bad idea, as there was one spaceship bit that I'd forgotten, and starting that war disrupted all my trade routes meaning I couldn't build the last bit. But I had a load of gold in the bank, so I kept buying nukes and dropping them on her until she asked fora peace treaty, and I was able to get everything up and running to get into space in 2048!

I'll up the difficulty again next time, but I think I'll have to actually plan out exactly what I want to do from the off, rather than fanny about for a couple of thousand years before actually setting up anything resembling a plan. I also think I'm expanding too far. I had a major problem in the early to mid part of the game where my population was poor and miserable and everything ground to a halt. It wasn't until I proper ground out some workers that I could turn stuff around, but between that and the frequent wars and denouncements that rapid expansion seem to generate, I might see what happens with a small but prosperous city and then try for a heavily militarised border and then push for a diplomatic or cultural victory. And then end up with another scientific one anyway.

Culural victories can be quite hard I find.

A Diplomatic victory is pretty easy if you have lots of money (even in Gods & Kings).

Personally the draw of the game is more to do with how you go about building your civ up than it is the actual victory at the end, thats just a way of ending the game so it doesn't go on forever (which you can obviously do if you want to).

There are infinite different permutations to try, each game is a new challenge to build a civilzation on a new map. It never gets old.

Well guess I'll be avoiding them from now on, and just when they were starting to win me over.
