When was the last time a Steam sale was any good? The days of crazy discounts and deals you just couldn't resist seem like a lifetime away now.

I can't remember the last game I actually bought directly from Steam in all honesty!

I'm actually glad the Steam sales aren't as good as they used to be, means I buy fewer games that never get played.

I think you can still get some pretty good deals. I just find that I am not inclined to take advantage of them as I know I won't have the time to play the game fully.

There was a time when more games jumped to 75% discounts and more quickly. A lot of the time now it's often around 33% - or 50% but the base game is still holding the ridiculously high release RRP, so still massively expensive for a game that's been out years and you kind of only want to buy on a punt.

That's the thing I miss; games which I wasn't sure were my cup of tea and being able to pick them up for a fiver down the road. So if it turns out not to be my thing I haven't wasted too much money.

I realise there are naughty places where I can obtain them for free on the high seas, but I've always paid for every single game I've played. So I just don't buy as many now.

Wasteland 3 still being £30 after 50% off is ridiculous, have it on gamepass fortunately.

Tempted to buy Transformers Battlegrounds but still unsure as it looks a little too kid-friendly in tone for my liking.

The stabilisation of Steam sales coupled with having a Game Pass subscription has made me almost completely stop buying games on Steam.

DPL, flash sales were terrible, nobody wants to be checking the store every 8 hours.

Bought a new mic the other day: the Razer Seiren Mini. Considering it's the cheapest 'decent' mic I could find recommended (came in at around 50 quid) it's strawberry floating great. It's a desk sitter but comes with a wee shock-mount stand so vibrations are actually pretty silent.

I spent all day (actually all day) yesterday setting up VoiceMeeter and NVIDIA Broadcast and I've now got it to the point where I can hold the mic 2cm from my (very clacky) keyboard, hammer on the keys while talking and the thing will only pick up my voice. Broadcast (formerly RTX Voice) really is an amazing piece of software.

Don't forget Epic just giving away games for nowt. The only store I actually spend any significant money on at the moment is Oculus.

Add in the odd Humble Bundle and you're set.

And let's not all forget our backlogs! Nothing puts me off buying a game more nowadays than reminding myself I have 300 more to even start first.

I've been using two Noctua fans for GPU cooling for so long that I had forgotten how loud the stock GPU fans could get. They won't run below ~1200 rpm either, but better the constant hum than no sound with a periodical ramp to 2500 rpm.

Got a 15mm Noctua fan coming on Monday. The GPU is pretty fat in the middle so I'm worried only one will fit. It'd be good to get two in so I'd at least have some sort of constant airflow across the GPU. Also picked up a Liquid Freezer II 280mm for the CPU. The Noctua UH-9 (edit: Vietnam edition) can handle a 5600X but I think to get the most out of both the GPU and CPU, I'll really need to get a better airflow pattern through the case. Stopped short of picking up one of these from EKWB. :shifty:

What case do you have?

In my limited experience good flow in is key. The set up sounds similar to mine with loads of flow in (Corsair 465x as I like the glass front and colours - but I looked at loads). I’ve got noctua fans and a NH12s. It’s great for a 3600x. Temps don’t go above 70 and sit in the 60s mostly.

I love to tinker. That case allows for AIOs and my last one didn’t. So now I am looking at Corsair AIOs for more lights!

Is there an easier solution to EA being dicks.

I've got an Origin account, which I need to launch EA games from Steam, I've also got an EA desktop account, So that I can launch EA games from Gamepass. I've got to log out of each one before I go to launch a game from the other. It's a minor inconvenience, but it's doing my head in.

Yep. I’ve seen this and is piss poor. I’ve also found uninstalling games a shambles too. It’s deliberately gooseberry fool I reckon. If there is a work around, would help me too.

Cooler Master NR200P, so it's a bit tight. I wonder about going back to an ATX case to have more room for tinkering around and more expansion slots. I really appreciate well thought out cable management and RGB schemes too, it can be a bit difficult to make things look smart in such a tight space. What's your RGB setup like?
