I need a new motherboard CPU and ram combo recommended from the new Ryzen range. Going to buy 2 sets for a new build and to upgrade an existing computer.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I bought Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus in the steam sale and it is seriously pissing me off that all the tutorials use xbox buttons when I don't have a controller plugged in.

WTF you have the option of playing with the mouse and keyboard (although from trying it out for a few minutes you might need a third arm), how hard would it have been to switch some images, or at least the strawberry floating text from "press A button" to "press left mouse button". :x

It's a Japanese PC port. You should be thankful it even boots up.

Sorry battle royale fans, but that 1000-player game nobody could stop talking about on Reddit is no more.

Ever since it was announced as Project X back in 2017, Mavericks: Proving Grounds was tossed around as the potential future for the battle royale genre. The original plan was to have 1000 concurrent players in a single world, with up to 400 people playing the PvP mode at the same time on a stonking 12km x 12km map. It sounded incredibly ambitious - possibly too ambitious, as UK studio Automaton Games has now gone into administration.

I remember this game being trailered during E3 2018 (as they were on just before Night Call first got announced!) and being massively sceptical that an inexperienced team could i) pull off such a game and ii) pull in 1000 players total. Also how odd it was for a tiny independent studio to choose a USP based entirely on massive numbers. It felt like a Dragon's Den pitch rather than a viable product.

Unfortunately investors thought the same and it's been canned.

Hmm.

I don't think the problem with a 1k people server is now technical and more down to it just not being fun.
The chance of winning is much lower and the better players will naturally have more rubbish players to prey on (like me) to get better stuff and again gain more advantage.
When I played Fortnite I had a few duo's and squad wins as you could avoid most fights and be a bit lucky but I don't see that happening with 1k players.

Anyone else been playing Ion Fury? Had a go last night and got past the first couple of levels and it's pretty damn sweet.

Definitely scratches that 90's-FPS itch in a very satisfying manner. The fact that it's essentially running on the Build engine makes it even more impressive.
It's super fast and has loads of references and homages to other games and movies. Gonna play some more of this tonight I think.

Makes me want to check out Dusk and Amid Evil as well.

EDIT: Got a Eurogamer Recommend as well.

Oh wow I have to play this! I loved duke 3d so much back in the day, I got heavily in to using build and used to spend a tonne of time in it, going to far as to make a total conversion of doom in duke 3d. Unfortunately this was before I had the internet and on my dad's old apricot pc, so it's lost to the mists of time. E1M1 with duke nuke vents and additions was like playing a sonic mania version of doom, I was so proud of it.

Build Engine

That was where I peaked in terms of my own level work I think. I made a bunch of stuff for Quake, Half Life and Unreal after that but never with the same level of conviction or success as I'd had with Build and Doom engine stuff.

Will definitely be checking this out!

Was waiting for people to recommend it. Will definitely get on it after I finish Half Life VR.

long shot but does anyone here have a Stream Deck?

Image

if you do, would you be able to do a test for me?

Looking to see if it can be used while rotated 90° to vertical (I.E. is it easy enough to programme rotated icos etc...)

This post is exempt from the No Context Thread.

I have one, but can't test it. I don't see why you couldn't though. You can make your own icons and have them rotated so they look the right way when you put it on its side.

Ion Fury pushed me to try Dusk and Amid Evil as well.

Can't say Dusk really grabbed me. Something about it was just a bit off putting so I've not really played it much.

Amid Evil however is top notch stuff. It's basically Quake again and it's very, very reminicent of that games level design and gameplay. Lots of tricky puzzles and it moves nice and fast. Well worth a look.

Lets see if this creates the same nonsense furor that followed in the the Epic Store's wake. Also, I guess RDR2 PC is going to be officially announced soon.

I thought they'd had one for ages with that Rockstar Social Club shite that barely worked.

Christ sake, it's gotten to point where I have to look up where a game is available whenever I hear of something that interests me. I do not have a problem with different store fronts competing but the exclusivity nonsense is a pain in the ass.

I see cube world is finally getting a release and all those that bought the alpha in 2013 (yes, 6 years ago) get a steam key.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1128000/Cube_World/

I'm really looking forward to playing it again.
