The AMD RX6500 barely outperforms my current card, and has half the VRAM, for instance.

Nvidia clearly don't give much of a gooseberry fool about the XX50 tier either, so I fully expect the 4050 to not appear for a long time after the rest of the 40XX range as well.

I've never spent more than £200 to £300 for a graphics card and I don't ever intend to. There's absolutely no reason for these things to be as ridiculously expensive as they are and the disappearance of the low-mid tier pricing brackets has essentially killed any interest I have in upgrading my card anytime soon.

So picking up on the £3.5k 3080 PC.

https://www.scan.co.uk/nvidia/products/ ... 7104429f9b

3080Ti is £1050 and in stock and has been for weeks. £2.5k for the rest of the PC.....12900K well affordable.

Or go 3090Ti for your £3.5k.

Yes I am double posting this. Probably the first really photorealistic Graphics I have ever seen.

I had to watch it a couple of times, and was sure it was faked until the lighting changed.

Impressive, there's still enough signs that it's not real if you're looking for them (Most obviously how some of the lighting/shadows are borked when it turns to night) but either way it's incredible progress!

Very impressive, but as soon as I noticed it was nothing but straight lines in the environment and no curves, it all started to get big Source engine vibes.

I think you're right, I could tell it was generated once it switched to the night time view, which is odd as you would expect the night time to look more realistic due to the lessened detail etc, but I think there is something just slightly uncanny valley with the lighting.

The daytime view...I honestly struggle to find anything that shows it's fake. I

I thought it was someone taking the piss with normal camera footage to begin with (Which no doubt we will now get loads of examples of)

Interesting, I wonder if curves is harder to fake. I can see why they didn't include any people as that would give the game away.

The other give away is that everything looks too clean, theres no scuff marks on the fllor/walls, no rust on the railings and no peelink/flaking paint on the wooden structures, you need imperfection to create realism.

Pin-sharp shadows is another. Camera movement is also a bit weird. The rocks and grass look a bit off. Just tons of imperfections. Honestly, I'd say graphics were more realistic than that in the 90s.

Imagine looking at that and thinking it's anything short of incredible

Did we watch the same video? There's loads of scuff marks, rust, peeling paint etc. :?

The puddles look too perfect in the night time bit for sure.

I feel we ought to make this statement at least once a generation. Make a nice little tradition out of it.

That's not an energy sword, those are his claws that are a rip off from Wolverine

To be fair, Unreal did look incredible for the time. Pretty sure it never came to N64 though!

"Videogame myths: fact or fiction? Was Mario originally a New York Landlord?"

I knew he was always a bad 'un!
