Anything to do with games at all.

If the crypto situation as as bad as it could be could it mean an end to people bulk buying graphics cards for mining?
Could prices actually start being somewhat sensible again?

Maybe. What we need is more competition. AMD (and FSR) to be a genuine rival to Nvidia. The raw performance of AMD and the VRAM is better than Nvidia, but DLSS and ray tracing as an option means there is a strong Nvidia bias. Intel coming along would be helpful.

I’m convinced Nvidia (and AMD to a lesser extent) introduced the Ti or 6x50 versions of cards purely to test the market for what they would pay. The 3090Ti at £1900 is the extreme of this, but the price increase of the 3080Ti to the 3080 was also the same. People lapped them up so I think they will stick with that model. We’ll see.

Maybe I'm just cheap but £1900 for a graphics card seems insane to me.
If I was going to buy a games PC now my upper limit would be about £1200 for the entire thing.

I agree. That’s why the 3080 at £700-800 was the sweet spot. It’s also why Nvidia deliberately choked supply and out the chips in the the 3080Ti for more money, and still people lapped it up. 4000 series will be expensive again.

Figured I may as well give this a try, and it's working (for now :shifty: )! Crazy cheap, so I guess we'll see if it does ever break. Thanks! :toot:

Would you want to buy a GPU previously used for mining though? Seems like it's gonna have a shorter lifespan.

Yeah used ones can get in the bin, but if the miners are winding down then hopefully that will have a positive effect on prices...

Used ones can be very little difference and be a lot cheaper. Why not.

So glad the rainforest died so those bros could mine their worthless coins and price everyone out of a cheap CPU upgrade! :toot:

Steam summer sale now on. There's actually a few deals on my wishlist that look better than I've seen before, Yakuza Like a Dragon is £25 quid, and £28 for the version with all the bonus guff.

There's the usual minigame ARG stuff, where you're looking for fake games from the future on the store, and the joke games are actually indistinguishable from some of the genuine games you see on the store all the time.

It's £21.99 on CD Keys (with Quidco) for the base Y7 game.

I really need to update my Steam wishlist more often, whenever these sales come around I get pinged to say a bunch of games I now already have on other stores/services are on sale!

Same, but with games I lose interest in wanting to play.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Got a few strategy games I wouldn't mind picking up but I'm currently getting deep into Hearts of Iron IV so it seems silly to buy more games.
