When (if?) Valve open up Steam OS from the Deck and it becomes something you can put on a normal PC then I might dive in.

I do this already with the extra wrinkle of streaming from my pc in my office down to the living room, it took a few tweaks but now works pretty well. Steam link on our Amazon fire cube boots into big picture mode and I also have moonlight running on it which connects to playnite on the pc as a second avenue too.

I used to do steam link (both hardware and the app on android tv), but my network is not wired so latency isn't good. Also colours seem quite washed out.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Wired steamlink is excellent.

I knew buying the PS5 version would be the quickest way to get this game released on PC. You're all welcome.

I should go buy Demon Souls too.

Mine's wireless going through 2 floors and works ok, i went out and bought a better wireless adapter, usb 3.2 cable and also make sure to put the tv in "game mode" which gets rid of a lot of the processing effects that cause latency/input lag. Mine goes down to the fire tv which is wired into the router (steam link sideloaded because the amazon app store is rubbish, although moonlight is on there natively and may be worth a look) to a 2009 1080p 60hz tv so i'm not exactly trying to push it.

Any news on how they run? The C&C bundle would cost me about £7 currently so I'd love to pick it up if they all work well on modern hardware.

And they don't need EA's launcher, right? If they do, I'm out.

I've just tried Sim City 3000 and it doesn't need the EA launcher, I assume it's the same for all of these games.

You may want to check out https://github.com/holoiso-staging/releases if you haven't previously.

Sweet! Does the game run well "out of the box"? Just wondering if they've added the likes of wide-screen support or anything. I know they aren't remasters but I'd hope they at least run well without needing to search out fan made patches.

Last time I tried to play Generals was probably a decade ago and even then it was too much trouble you get running on a "modern" OS.

A couple of Steam reviews mention that these seem to be the same as the GOG versions, so might be worth checking out their store pages/reviews for more info.

Can confirm Red Alert 2 is not currently Steam Deck compatible.

Is the res too low? There's a "cheat code" in RA2 where you type "hires" on the main menu to unlock the higher unsupported resolutions.

After the intro cinematic plays, I just get a black screen. I can see the cursor and hear the music, but there's nothing else visible. I was launching from desktop mode, will try again in a bit from game mode if that makes a difference, and try a couple of proton versions.

Yeah EA have done nothing here just uploaded to Steam. You'll need to install 3rd party patches to make Populus The Beginning playable so it may as well not be on Steam.
